    Hi,
Please can I join in?? Did join a couple of years ago and fell off the wagon.
Did SW last year and lost 11lbs but life conspired against me and I put 9lbs back on. So I returned to SW 3 weeks ago and have lost 6lbs so far. I prefer to do extra easy.
Would love to get to 10 stone, currently 11 8, but realistically aiming for 11 stone at the moment. I have a wedding in July and have a *cough* birthday ending with a 0 in September.
I do pilates and kettleworx everyweek and an additional gym session.
    Walked 4 miles yesterday.

What challenges do you recommend to help keep me on track?

    Thanks,
    Jane

I had my porridge this morning with milk only - no sugar or honey. It wasn't too bad :j:j

Happy Easter Monday all. Hope it's not as damp and miserable where you are, as it is here. Damp squib doesn't come close to describing it, but I'm not going out today, so staying in the warm, cups of tea aplenty, so I don't really care. I'm not sure if the hosepipe ban is really needed now, but the garden is looking lush.

Lois, I hope the veg and fruit helps. If you've done SW before, you'll know that the success express is 2/3 of your plate 'super speed' foods like melon (except water melon, ironically), most berries, mushy peas, some beans, and your less starchy veg and fruit. I think it works on the principle that it probably takes more energy to digest the food, than it contains calories, and it's bulky and fibrous, so you feel satisfied. Sounds sensible to me. I lost 6.5lbs in my 1st week of doing SW. They do say that if you eat right, and exercise moderately, you should expect 2lb loss per week. SE is a great way to give you diet a boost if you've reached a plateau, or if you've got a meal out planned, and want to do some damage limitation.

Matryoshka, wow! that's some kind of hardcore porridge you've had. I don't think even I could do that, and I only have a couple of teaspoons at the most on mine! You'll have reduced the calories by almost 300 though, so that's a huge amount.

Beanie, I hope today goes well for you at SW. Our consultant never gave us any bank holidays off, and WI day was a Monday for us, but it did help to keep us on track. If you want some inspiration for meals, there's a really good link for some SW recipes on the front page of the SW thread on MSE. The books you get at the first meeting were really useful.

Welcome back Jane it sounds like you're doing well already on SW, so just stick with the plan, and do some regular exercise like you are, and that should be just fine. If you want to join in here with the monthly 5lb challenge, and the exercise challenges, just let resident star Fredsnail, who kindly does all the charts, know by putting a post up here. You may remember that losses are reported in on a Wednesday for the weekly chart, and you can log any exercise throughout the week. Setting yourself achievable small targets to aim for will probably work better than looking at the long-term goal of losing 1st 8lb! You'll find it more motivating to chip away at the smaller chunks of 1-2lb a week, and 5lb per month. Then with exercise you could set a target of wanting to cycle/walk a certain number of miles in a month, etc. I'm sure you get the idea.

Thank you. It really wasn't too bad :rotfl:I finished the bowl :rotfl:Hubby also said he couldn't eat it like that. After a while, my tastebuds will change :D

    Thanks for the warm welcome.
Please sign me up for the 5lb a month and the long distance challenge (?)
Had friends, from France ,over today, but had SW fritatta with salad and SW choc mousse - all home made.
Weather awlful so no chance of getting out for a brisk walk. Might do some pilates later.
Going out to France in May - so even more incentive now.

    Hiya

Fred - 2lbs off for me please! :D I've also been walking - 4km on Sunday, 2km today, thanks.

With all the fruit and vegetables I'm eating this week I've got points left over! Today I had weetabix, skimmed milk and banana for breakfast, salad wrap for lunch and a WW recipe - roast vegetable pasta salad with hard boiled egg and ham for dinner. The pasta salad contained artichoke hearts, which are very popular here, they grow masses of them, and the Spanish often put them in salads. I bought them ready prepared in a jar as I've never had the courage to tackle a fresh one! I find the flavour quite bland, but it went very well with roasted pepper and courgettes.

Matryoshka - that was brave, cutting out the sugar altogether! I sometimes eat porridge without anything to sweeten it, but I'm really not that keen. I only put about 1tsp of honey on, but I also like raisins in it, which gives it a bit more bite and sweetness.

Hello Jane - well done on your results so far with SW. My birthday is in September too, but it's not a new decade for me. What date are you? And what does extra easy entail?

Sary - I was reading an old copy of Woman & Home and they suggest to lose weight you should use a smaller plate, then half of it should be vegetables, a quarter protein and a quarter carbs.

    Have a good week.

Lois, that sounds like a really good tactic to tackle weightloss, but without following a specific 'diet' as such. I switched to a smaller plate when I started at SW last year, and it does work, just having the visual of the plate looking full, and it curbed by inclination to load a plate up until there was no more room. Certainly no nouvelle cuisine in my kitchen of a little bit of nothing on a big white plate!

Well done with the 2lb loss!

I know there are specially made plates with the markings of each 1/3 of the plate marked out. I guess you could do your own with some ceramic paints, and a lot cheaper (think the plate is about £20-30!). Painting your own is far more MSE ;)

Lois - think the plate is a great idea - I know I don't eat enough fruit and veg.

Matryoshka - well done on cutting out the sugar. I have a teaspoon of honey on my porridge, don't think I could go 'cold turkey' and cut it out altogether.

2 1/2 hours walking delivering the last of the poll cards. Hard to calculate in miles as up and down paths / roads. Still a very MSE way to keep fit - get exercise and make money :T

Have started the 30 day shred. Will miss the days I go to Bootcamp as the exercises are very similar, but determined to keep at it everyday to see if it makes any difference to weight / inch loss.
