I received a parking ticket at the end of 2011. I was parked on a private sight, i purchased a ticket and I believe it was facing the correct way. I appealed and sent evidence of the purchase of my ticket. To which they refused and said they could not see my ticket.
I ignored them after reading advice on line - but I ahve recently received a letter from the debt agency saying they will contact their solictor in 10 days if I have not made the payment.
I plan to ignore but I am getting a little concerned that they are goign toc lamp me at home or if I dont pay take me to court and my credit sscore will go down.
HAs anyone else got the stage of the debt agency being involved?

Was the company LDK security? If not then please start your own thread.

Debt collectors are just private individuals with no special powers. They won't come to your house. For your credit score to be damaged the case would have to go to court (very unlikely) you lose (very, very unlikely) and then you don't pay whatever the judge orders within 28 days. This is such a remote possibility that it's not worth worrying about. Could you please tell us the name of the debt collection company?

No, they won't clamp you at home.

Debt collection agency = paper tiger. They have as much effectiveness as a chocolate fireguard.

Court? Very unlikely, but if they did, you paid for your parking so all they would be claiming is a penalty, which they can't do.

  • Yes it is LDK Security.
And I think it is the same agency as above - EDRS - who have threatened to get a solicitor involved if after 10 days the fine has not been paid.

Just relax and don't be intimidated by these clowns. Nothing will happen . Finally, this is not a FINE, it's an unenforceable invoice.

The "solicitor" will most likely be Graham White, or another made up solicitor based at the same offices the debt collectors are from.

So how is that different than the info about these letters which is shown in pics in the top thread? They all say it will go to their legal Dept and many of these scammers use 'Graham White Solicitors' headed notepaper. Big deal.

Just ignore them and be ready for the next letters, top thread has the pics.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Let's get this clear. Graham White's Solicitors from West Byfleet - (not in anyway connected with the entirely genuine firm based in Hertfordshire) are simply an arm of another debt collection agency. The one and only solicitor connected with the "company" is now well into his 70's (he retired from the housing department at Hackney Borough Council some years ago now) and, in essence, "rents" his name to the debt collectors so they can pose as the real thing. The letters purporting to come from him come in reality from the debt collectors - plain and simple.

It is quite understandable why people are frightened of debt collectors. It is all because debt collectors say they will take you to court; say they will instruct bailiffs and say they will seize your goods. They say all of these things but what they do not say is that they're only saying them to frighten you into paying them. In the vast majority of cases they are in no position to take you to court and have no right to do so. What is more if they cannot take you to court they cannot win the case so they cannot then instruct bailiffs and cannot seize your goods. Its nothing but bluff and bluster.

I'm getting very fussy now, though. I am no longer prepared to use any debt collectors letters I get as toilet paper and shred them instead so that the neighbours pet gerbils can make their nests in it and then cr*p all over it. Well, its simply finding its natural level and the gerbils prefer it to the stuff from the pet shop. Strange though, I tried some of the marketing bolleaux from British Gas a couple of weeks ago. The trouble is that it is printed on far better quality paper (and so it should be given what we are having to pay for their product) and the gerbils couldn't get the same traction.

And there you have it. Besides sound advice on what to do with PPC invoices another enterprising, money-saving idea from MSE. I will not claim the idea as mine - but it was one I learned from this very forum.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Can anyone advise my next course of action. Received a parking ticket 07/11/2012. Was parked in a disabled bay. Not on purpose mind you, I'm not trying to be clever here. On the private site where I work, I know there is massive complaints about the parking police. They are like hawks and slap tickets everywhere within sconds of time restrictions and slightly outside lines. I am aware of their reputation, and know I have to be careful. However, isn't this a ridiculous way to feel about the simple task of parking your car and going to work? I normally park in a safe area each morning but I wasn't due on site this day until the afternoon. I had to look around a different part of the site for a space, and spent most of my time focusing on any gaps between cars as the site looked busy, so if I saw a spot, I knew I had to be quick to get it. On the end of the aisle through the middle section was a space, though difficult to see due to a 4x4 Volvo petruding next to it. I quickly spun my car into the space. I checked the area to see if it was okay to park there. There was no chevrons, writing or lines around the space, or sign next to it stating I could not park here so was confident to go to work. I was ticketed on my return for being in a disabled bay, however, the only way of knowing this was by the wheelchair symbol, now underneath the car and obstructed. I appealed, and did not hear anything for over 2 months until I received a formal demand. I rang the company, to which I was put on hold while they looked to see about my appeal. The girl on the phone apologised, and did not know why the appeal was not looked into, although, they state they will give written answers within 28 days on their website. I was told an answer would now be fast tracked within 7 days, and have just had an answer that the appeal is rejected, and must pay. Looking through this website, it appears that I may have a few points here. The poor signage. The proof of breach of contract, and if so, where does this firm come into this, as they could not adhere to there own timescales. I still want to dispute this unfair charge, and not sure what to do as my next step, can anyone help, please???

Since you are not due to receive this ticket until November this year you should plan ahead, book the day off now and see if it mess's up the space time continium.:D

i'm new to all of this and been reading hoping what i am reading is right.

this afternoon, my wife was ticketed by LDK securities for allegedly parking in a car park by university hospital north durham. she had a valid ticket, on display in the windscreen, yet the imbecile who issued the ticket claimed he couldnt see it.

obviously the ticket gives you however long to pay x fine, and from what i read on here LDK have no right to enforce such a fine. is this right or am i clutching at straws. not that she should have been ticketed in the first place.

can someone tell me how i should deal with these clowns please

and although the guy was taking photos of the car, even though he saw the ticket he claimed he didnt - and none of the photos he took of the car actually showed where it was parked. it could easily have been outside my home. i aint paying them a penny and ill see my day

and someone advised reading the ppc letters and threats link. i must be stupid cos i cant find it - can someone post a link - thanks
  • It is them who are clutching at straws if they think they are going to pull a scam like this on a North Easterner! Very simple, = unenforceable.

Retain the parking ticket just in case; but as you actually paid they haven't a leg to stand on and if they employ a registered blind person as a ticket inspector that's their problem- not yours.

DO NOT waste time effort or money on their sham appeal system; that will only tell them you are mug enough to think the ticket is legitimate, so you may be mug enough to pay it when they turn your appeal down- which they always do.

IGNORE each and every piece of toilet paper they are going to send you; and just come back here to confirm when they give up and go away. This may be half a dozen letters later.

THEY ALWAYS GO AWAY IF YOU IGNORE THEM.
