Yesterday my 'style' suddenly changed from the new forum default back to the old style with the members details on the left.
I did nothing to change this and it has alway been and still is set for new style fixed width but that is not what I am seeing.
It has also got even slower that it was (if that is possible) and if I hit the arrow for the back button on my browser, I sometimes see the word 'Like' there as if the browser had been to a page that was facebook related. I know for a fact that I did not go to a fb page whilst browsing this forum as I NEVER go to any fb page at any time.

This morning I hit the back button a couple of times and was taken to an MSE page about credit cards and that is somewhere els I never go on this site.

We're still testing the new style so we gave you links which implement a cookie based change. When the cookie expires you'll lose the style change.

To select your permanent style please go to your User CP -> Edit Options. Scroll down to "Miscellaneous Options" and use the "Forum Skin" drop down and click Save Changes.

  • I would also like to add that since the other changes (that new header) it is now really really slow to load anything up.
If I click to the next page, its slow.
Click on a new board, its slow.

Anyone else finding the site really slow now? Its sooooo annoying. It used to load pages in the blink of an eye.

Yep, me too. I'm hoping that they'll allow those of us who are still on the old version (that's pre the last lot of changes they made), to stay on it. I know it won't help speed the slow loading, but at least it's more comfortable to the eye than either the "new old" or the "new new" (for me anyway).

The change between pages is painfully slow for me too, very frustrating.

Apologies if this has already been said but the following needs to be fixed:
    • Make the breadcrumb trail not italics. For us older folk it's harder to read. Is it the same font size as "reply to thread" which in bold looks huge in comparison?
    • Huge gap underneath one or two line posts. I realise that this could be extra returns put in by the poster, but it needs to be fixed. Edit - just posted a one liner and there were no extra returns, but still a huge gap.
    • Too much space underneath the bottom toolbar (thanks, quote etc.)
Other minor annoyances that could be fixed while you are at it are:
    • Cannot insert Smileys in edit mode.
    • Line spacing too big around quote boxes. They are in a different colour and already stand out.
    • Line spacing too big around numbered and bulleted paragraphs

Ok, had this for a few days now, still feel like there is an aweful lot of space and really don't like the positioning of name or avatar - makes it really dfficult to scan for things by the same poster.
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions
  • I think you ought to get rid of the 'be nice to all moneysavers' bit and the links from the main site, then it would look something more like:

Although there are still mammoth amounts of white space :(

For now I'm going back to stretchy :(
