its flood control
every forum uses it
is info from 2007 no longer valid?
use advanced search for narrower results
Well, when I searched in the competition section which some posts are outdate so why do MSE need stored it?
I think it is useful to have some old posts for the reference, but wonder if we really keep very old information? Those may slow down the server?
I'm not expert in that field as mentioned that I'm not sure if that is relevant issue or not.
If it is not issue at all, then apologise to mentioned it in first place.

so sorry but i use a large screen at work and now I have more white space than anything else. I find it extremely off putting and am glad you are keeping the stretchy version supported.
The link didnt let me switch back either so now I have to go hunting on how to do it. Perhaps you could edit your first post to offer instructions should the link not work?
Thanks for trying to make things betterDFW 228 LONG H 68

I normally like fixed-width sites centered like this and that's how I do virtually all my sites, however, for a forum, it's rather odd not to have it full width, perhaps it's a habit of a lifetime but I very much prefer the liquid design. I have wide screens both at home and at work and on the fixed design there's more white space than forum posts!0

I don't hate the new layout, though there is a lot of whitespace when you reach the end of the RH sidebar.
One distinct advantage (unless I've just been lucky so far) is that when some bozo embeds a hugely oversized image I don't have to scroll right until my arm drops off just to read every post.
But (there's always a but) please, please, please do not italicise the breadcrumb trail. It's unreadable and, well, rather tacky.0 -
I prefer the sticky pins on the new format but it doesn't go stretchy for me and the sort by type is not as obvious as the old type of view (it works but you can't see which sort type you're in at any time). I will be going back to the old stye until I have to change.
Like - sticky pins
Don't like - unobvious sort view

Awfully unuser friendly.
The new spacing has created masses of additional scrolling - real old school, not something I'd expect in a modern forum, especially not a new design. Really bad for anyone with RSI, arthritis etc. Hardly an inclusive design.
Not enough colour options for those who need to filter colours etc for many reasons (colour blindness, dyslexia).

I think you guys need a style guide for creating online content, almost everything on this website is inconstant. Fonts, colours, sizes, padding, margin etc etc are all different per item.
Its as if each "widget (Martins Twitter Feed for Example)" has been designed by someone who not seen the rest of the site.
Don't get me wrong, the changes are a step in the right direction... kind of still feels like its been designed by someone who is not a web designer, or by a web designer who has not been the freedom by his client to create something beautiful.
Also, its as if you have tried to make everything on the site stand out, thus making nothing stand out. 10 bright colours are as good as 10 dull ones, nothing stands out when everything is either as bright or dull as each other. I would argue that if you don't want anything in particular to stand out more then its better to just have more muted colours.0 -
Don't know if anyone else has commented but I would like to see the # sign put back before the post number. Still playing before commenting further.0

You can go back to the current fixed width style or the current stretchy style
