Same problem.
IE9 New masthead - stretchy - less bright.
And - either my sight has improved dramatically overnight. Or the font size across the forums has suddenly enlarged? My monitor is set at 125% zoom .... as is default and usual. Can't see anything in the MSE options that appears to have changed. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Thank you for this. Back to the New masthead, stretchy, less bright skin with the sidebar removed. It's like a whole new forum without all that erm stuff!
Indeed it is.
Getting rid of that damn useless sidebar makes the world of difference.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

There seems to be no tick to say 'you have a post in this thread' I don't read all of them so now I struggle to find the one I'm interested in, the avatars are far too small for my aged eyes to make out,. Overall I prefer the previous version.0

It's very ... flat. If that makes sense. In the old version the posts 'pop' more, making them easier to follow.
It feels slower to read with the big banner for each poster across the top of their post and the gaps between posts (the white space around the framed posts).
Also agree with errata - the hover on the link and see a bit about the thread was very useful.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > MoneySaving & The Site > Site Feedback > NEW new MSE forum design (Page 7) finally belongs where it should be :A but why is it in italics - I admit I like to see uniformity in use of fonts or it would lend a cluttered appearance.
I also liked the idea of lining up the fb and tweet buttons alongside our collection of buttons and now with this ...could the buttons and prescence light at the bottom of posts be made smaller? They seem somewhat out of proportion in the narrower style.MSE_Forum_Manager wrote: »Hi Fifer,
Yes, I believe that is very much part of the thinking for the redesign proper.
I don't know if I'm the only one though, I feel a little lost on the forum without having a clue where I posted. I don't subscribe so it is so difficult now to track threads because the little sign on threads appears to have vanished. Or has it been redesigned and that I haven't seen it?0 -
In recent weeks, posts have been restricted to a thin band a quarter of the width of my screen. Really annoying to have paid a small fortune for a large screen and then having sites ignore your investment. I guess this is the difference between what you are calling "stretchy" and "fixed width". Like others, I find it bizarre that you are seeking to change something that was working fine - the value of this site does not lie in the flim-flam, it's the content provided by the users. That should be waaaay up front. You've been seduced by these "graphic design", "image is all", "medium is message" types, Martin!
But I didn't come here just to repeat what others have said. The most useful bit of the original post was a (well-hidden) link that changed the presentation from "fixed-width" to "stretchy". Why not put that as a big, clearly visible button somewhere at the top of the page?0 -

Excellent.
Just on the new version it seems, as for a sec I thought "no it's not!Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
