I may be in the minority (or at least in the silent majority) but I'm perfectly happy with the width of the text in the current version. It's about the size I used to have my browser on the stretchy version, even though it only fills half of one of my two monitors. Wide text is hard to read.
So I see no benefit in the new version having more text. And I see a disadvantage in the new version putting the user info above the post - makes things harder to follow.
It's possibly just a case of not liking it because it is new. But I do think that it is trying to fix a problem that, for me, just isn't there.0 -
I have no problem with it at all, it looks very similar to me. I also agree with what Jimmy said about wide text being hard to read. I honestly have no idea if I'm on the stretchy layout - sorry!
I honestly think if I had to pick one thing to improve it would be the colour scheme slightly since I'm not a massive fan of the grey/green/blue combo but that's probably just me being OCD. But I think a greater contrast between post backgrounds and the proper background would be nice since it's currently white and very light grey.0 -
I would like the see the green disappear - there are far to variations of colour with the forums and mast head together. Also, the "Im a new user" image seems to be all squashed and distorted.0

Sorry but it's a thumbs down! Why is this being done? Space for more advertising?
Far too much white nothing with the forum not much bigger than a postage stamp in the middle.
The old adage applies - if it's not broken then don't "fix" it.
Edit to add - wonderful! I now seem to be lumbered with the "new" version and can't revert to the proper format!? Clicking the link to do this doesn't work.0 -

or edit in your user cp options0 -
I'm another one who doesn't like the user info across the top of the posts.0

what bugs me is scrolling through the posts looking for a specific one is harder now
my eyes have been trained for around 27 years to read from left to right, now looking for a poster and their post i have to read their name, stop then read the next line and make the two tally iyswim?
rather than scrolling thorugh quick it makes me feel a bit queasy doing it quickly now
it just doesnt flow for me like before
not sure if its something you get used to?I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
I hate this new look, and now i can't change back.
I am seriously considering leaving the forum becouse of this new look, it is a huge step backwards, it's just change for changes sake.0 -

True enough. And stylish gives a user more options than R.I.P.
Probably personal preference as much as anything but I found the point and shoot usage of RIP easy to get the hang of - so I offered it as a first option for customising the screen. Those wanting even more customisation should indeed look at Stylish.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
