    I think its fine.
The only complaint i have is that its quite hard to see when each post/thread was posted as you have to look over to the right of each post.
For example, the poster above me (squeaky) posted that post at 11.51AM today, but its not as easy to see as it was before.
I fear that this will mean an increase in the amount of older threads being posted on- or is it just me?

I agree there is too much white empty space. Personally I prefer seeing the poster's details at the side of the post to try to fill the white space there is instead of on top of the post. I think keep signatures but make them much smaller than actual posts. Some people have longer, bigger signatures than others and whilst it gives you an identity it is not the important part of the thread.

The more important question I have to ask is have you improved your search facilites on the forum. As a lot of people including me seem to search for something and can't find it.

Yaaaaaay thank you for moving the:

Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > MoneySaving & The Site > Site Feedback > NEW new MSE forum design (Page 11)

bit below the banner about the forum rules! :T Solved the problem of accidently moving the mouse over the 'pop up' menus.

Sorry but I do not like it one bit.

I find it difficult to read.

And why is it squished into the centre of the screen?

I tried it and now I have headache and eyeache from trying to read this thread.

    1. Still far too much white space
    2. The gumf on the right takes up 20% of the visible space - can this not be removed when you are are viewing a thread but left intact at forum view level?
    3. Online/offline status button is far too big
    4. The location of the online/offline button makes no sense - it should be with the username, not down with the thanks buttons etc
    5. The posts don't 'flow' as easily as they used to
    6. Maybe it's the forums I frequent but I have never seen user information read LTR - it's always top to bottom and kept neater in a box to the left of the post
    7. Does the text for who thanks a post need to be so long-winded? Could it not just say "4 thanks >>" with the ">>" expanding out the list of thankers?
    8. Quote boxes no longer have a right hand side border
    9. The hash from beside the post number has gone making it harder for new users to realise what it is
    10. If you insist on keeping the LTR user info box could the post information be moved to a different place e.g. Post date & post number on one line/box
    11. The gap between the post boxes is too big making the posts seem more like post-it notes slapped on the screen - this affects the flow of the thread

Everything seems garbled like a 4 year old has been let loose on it. User info is unreadable, alignment in the top box makes it hard to read and the white space is a killer. I'm off to install Stylish and fix what the techies have broken. It's a real shame as although the forums had an old fashioned look to them, at least the had functionality. The new skin is lacking in both.

Sorry but it's back to normal for me plus the Firefox tweaks to make the forum how it should be.

Oh and I should point out that for a living, I work in IT and have designed and re-designed numerous applications in the past. I do not have a problem with change. What I do have a problem with is change for change sake which is what this feels like. Sorry Martin :(
  • nope, dont like the new version... didnt mind the new non stretchy one, but this one sucks... sorry

    Excellent idea.

An alternative would be to put it at the bottom of a page down with the "Important! How this site works" section.

We need change to enable us to move on ..... In a few days time we'll forget it's ever been changed :D

I love the Newbie Alert! So many people bump threads unnecessarily, yet when a newbie comes along & does this then all hell breaks loose.

HMMM! I think that i prefer the old version, as others have said too much white and it makes it harder on the old eyes.

I prefer the posters info down the left tbh but if it must change then so be it, i used to catch up and read on my break at work but we can`t log in there so have been stuck with the version that has all the white down the sides so i don`t read as often now.

One niggly bit is that when you get to the end of a post and thank the user that made it the text no longer tells you the name of the poster who made the post - just how many thanks that post has.
I`m not liking having to scroll back up to the top of the post to see who made the post IYKWIM.

I am not getting anything to tell me if a thread has been updated or if it is a new thread (used to be envelopes) also the icons that used to show atthe side of the header have gone making it harder to find some threads
