Old thread: 2012 Forum redesign

The "too much white space" is not only annoying, it makes it really hard to use this site with larger font sizes. It's not very moneysaving if I have to keep increasing my glasses prescription, is it? :P0

Because the fixed width is "narrow" for me, the width available for peoples names is restricted, when viewing a list of topics in a sub forum.
My name is a good example, the little box to be clicked to view my pearls of wisdom is forced onto the next line down, the result is that one tends to click on the posters name not their latest posting.0 -
This is not directly related to the changes BUT is it just me:
When branching following a link to another thread - is there an easy way to realise exactly where one has ended up?
For example if someone posts a branch from say "Debate house prices" into "Debt free wannabee" the same level of acerbic comment might not be appropriate.0 -
Don't like it (sounds like Andy from Little Britain lol) - how can I sort threads in the competition section? The buttons are missingThanks to all posters :A0

I am sorry but the new version of fixed width has suddenly gone all gloomy grey and I am unable to even reset it on the control panel because where it says recommended, it seems like the default is already set to this new version without a warning.
Really, please, this gloomy grey instead of white background is an UTTER turn off. As it is the weakest point of the current state of the site has always been and continues to be it's grey background and now being subject to the same gloomy grey look across posts is simply too much to cope. And now I have lost the original white fixed width as well. Looks like I have to return to stretchy old look to view the site in a decent white background.0 -
It's horrid. Another change for change's sake. Too much glaring white, and the username panels are far too big. First it was the crumpled 'just got out of bed' shirt and the defensive folded arms now this. Why?0

I really don't like that on/offline button isn't next to the username0

sorry martin don't like it either
anyway why are we all ranting???
it's not like anyone is listening, think it's going to change whether we like it or not:(GRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED
Please press the thanks button when someone has helped!0 -
Not read the whole thread so sorry if I am repeating. On the user CP there is an option, new masthead, stretchy. It is not working for me in chrome, it stays fixed width.
The link to switch back to previous view is also not working.
I don't mind the new design, looks a little sleeker. Though this forum is hopelessly cluttered anyway. To really clean it up, it needs half the stuff removing off the page and trashed. It really isn't all necessary.
I think fixed width is very old fashioned, and nobody who is using a huge screen is going to want to use it. I use a 27" imac, and even though I don't view in full screen, the fixed width still looks strange and lost.0 -
