Yay lil miss that's great news!

I had a bit of wedding flurry last week... Mum and I met with the florist to go through flowers and they are sending us a quote (it's not here yet though, hurry up! :( ) It was really exciting as they mocked up a few ideas just from flowers they had lying around and purple and yellow actually looked so gorgeous.

Even better news, I think we've got the BM dresses sorted! Good old BHS with 20% off - taking them down to around £75 a dress. Bargain! They have come and looked nicer than I expected. So far only my sister has tried hers on but it fits her fine and looks nice, and she is the most difficult one. My other BM needs to come round at some point this week to try hers on and then we will take the third one for OH's daughter with us when we go to visit her this weekend. If they are ok on the other two, then we are sorted! Thank god. I'm really pleased. They're not amazing but they're fine and I just want it sorted out. I think my sister is a bit disappointed at not getting loads of girly trips out trying on dresses but it was really stressing me out and I'm glad it's just DONE (assuming they look ok on the other two of course!)

Also got some quotes for cars, which is the last thing on the list to sort out (except rings, men's suits and honeymoon which are - surprise surprise - the only things OH is responsible for!) The car quotes are not as much as we thought they might be and, with the huge saving on the BM dresses, I think we might be able to afford to get coaches to take the guests from the reception venue to the church and back again...which I think would be a nice touch as then everyone could assemble at the reception venue and leave their cars there, and won't have to worry about trying to park etc near the church.

Ooh on the honeymoon front, I am absolutely ecstatic as I got my timetable for next year today (I am a teacher and I'm going part time in September) and it turns out I have Tuesdays off work next year...which is perfect because it means we can do our honeymoon Sunday - Monday (the first Monday back after the Easter holidays we're not in school), which works much better in terms of flights - we started looking at the weekend but as we want to book flights using OH's Avios points (he travels loads for work so gets loads of airmiles and also earns points on his Amex card) we were really limited and couldn't get any flights returning in time for me to go to work on Tuesday..but if I'm off work on Tuesdays we don't need to worry about it!!! :D SO PLEASED!

Sorry, that was all long and involved...but it's nice to chat about it...let's try and keep this thread nearer the top :D

Venturing into this thread because I'm almost an April bride...Daisy, you're scaring me!! I haven't thought about bridesmaids dresses, flowers, cars...I was just pleased I had my dress and thought I'd kick back and relax for a few months. I need to get organised!

Haha I'm sure you're fine! I just like to get things ticked off as quick as possible, I'm being very boring about the whole thing. I think my bridesmaids are quite disappointed!

Oh meant to add between writing my previous post and now, my other bridesmaid has come round and tried her dress on it and it fits her nicely too. Phew! Two down...one to go! Everyone keep fingers crossed for OH's daughter at the weekend...she is a very different body shape to the other two...just hoping it works!

Hello Laura *waves* - I know the feeling. I feel quite unprepared! I've paid for the rings now, provisionally booked venues and church (need to send deposits) and am about to confirm the photographer. Aside from that, I don't even have my dress! In fact that is becoming the hardest thing. I keep changing my mind about what I want as nothing seems to be quite perfect. At least there is some time to figure it out.

Yay for bridesmaid dresses! Fingers crossed for the remaining one.

    .

You've got loads of time! Honestly, I just get really jumpy and prefer to tick things of a list ASAP.

Speaking of which...got the car booked tonight :D It's gorgeous and they took me and my mum for a drive in it which was quite amusing. Yay!

Me too, which is why I'm jumpy about not having everything sorted myself! I don't want to end up with months of waiting after organising every little detail...but I want to organise every little detail...now! :rotfl:

Yay for cars! I'm getting a taxi, or getting my auntie to drive me in my tiny blue Toyota Aygo. Can't really afford a £250 car for a 10 minute journey. Not in the scheme of priorities. But I am looking at getting a bus from reception 1 to reception 2. Something like...

  • Hi ladies,

Can I join? My oh proposed on 4 June, and we are getting married on 6th April 2013 :)

So far we have provisionally booked venue and church, and I have found THE dress :) Have selected bridesmaids, and sort of know what I want for dresses. Need to sort caterers in the next month; have narrowed it down to two. We're having the venue for three days, which will be amazing... a big house party :)

Other things to sort are: band for reception, have asked a friend for a price... he is amazing and so hoping that they are not too expensive. Also, shoes for me.. Hoping to handbead some. And sort out kilt hire for the groomsmen, and buy my oh his kilt and outfit.
    And soooo many other things!!

But just bought a house and currently knocking plaster off walls! So have lots of other things to do, but need to get back to wedding planning soon!

Congratulations :j I'm sure your over the moon, welcome to the thread, to be honest I think I need to remember to come on it. I'm an avid lurker and need to post more instead of thinking people can mind read :rotfl:

Ok so to update the thread, my mum is paying the last of my dress next week, my folks bought it for me so now it's out of my mind until December when they want to start alterations.

I've picked my bridesmaids dresses, just need to order them but I've got until September and one of my bridesmaids lives the other side of the country so need to get her here for a fitting first.

I've order 5 pairs of shoes from the Next sale, the first pair arrived, they're an ivory sandel with a butterfly on the side, down to £14 but they don't sit right on so they're going back, looking forward to the other 4 pairs arriving now. If all else fails, I'm looking on eBay for my dream pair of Benjamin Adams glitter shoes.

The makeup artist is booked and deposit paid, I've started buying bits of lovely CK makeup and nice gifts for my maids, am still designing my invites so can't buy the paper yet.

I have block booked 20 rooms at the hotel and got a great price, I'm meeting the hotel again in September to finalise details of the menu as I need this done before doing the invites.

I'm trying to think what else I've done, oh I booked 1 car, and my DJ, all deposits paid. Oh and most importantly we've booked our honeymoon. I have the flights bought to Vegas and New York, booked a hotel in Vegas just need one in NY, and got my folks to mind the kids for the 2 weeks we're away.

Just have to save save save now!!
