Eek! Had my make up trial this morning, the lady was amazing and I looked and felt brilliant...she even put my hair up for me (though I am having someone different doing my hair on the day) so I could try out the tiara and veil and have the full effect, which she really didn't have to do.

Then we went to get two of the bridesmaid dresses adjusted, which was good and it was great to see how they will look when they are the right length...so beautiful!

Then I went for my dress fitting! My dress is as gorgeous as I remember and, even better, it needs to be taken in quite a bit as I have lost weight :D only slightly bad thing is they said I shouldn't really lose much more...but that's ok, I can lose a bit more and it will still be ok, but she said max about half a stone whereas I wanted to lose another stone really. Got to see it on with the shoes, jewellery, veil, tiara and even my name up done, and it was all good :)

    Yay!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Glad everything's coming together for you all ladies! Things are moving along here today too.

RSVPs are coming in (yay!) and I've made one cake, now to ice it (this is the bit I need practice with!) Am also going to try the madeira and chocolate recipes and see how they turn out :D

So that's all going well but am a bit down too. My friend that booked Washington texted this morning to say it is too expensive for them to fly down for the wedding. I haven't replied yet, don't really know what to say to her. I've offered to help with the cost so I don't think there's much else I can do really :(
I think she said it all when we spoke last week. She said when she heard that Vegas was on hold they decided to book somewhere 'they really wanted to go' as 'they have to take their holidays then'. Why say that you would love to come if you really weren't that keen? To be honest I wasn't planning on asking her to come in the first place, at the time we were trying to keep numbers down (oh the irony :P) and I didn't want to ask as I knew she has to travel home a lot, which uses up holidays and money. I guess everything happens for a reason, am still hurt though :(:(:(

Ok, time to stop feeling sorry for myself and get on with the baking!!

all deposits done- still need to sort make up and hair, meeting with venue in half term buying rings in March as h Samuel's is doing 10% off then soo much to do arghh!
    Thanks butterfly!

Do you mean your BM dress is ruined? Thats awful, I would have had a breakdown but you seem very calm!
I would be only too happy to help you choose your dress, pm me.

Also thanks for the tip about H Samuel as we still need to buy our wedding rings :)

  • not sure if it is just the local h samuels doing it but it would definately worth a try contacting a store to see if they have a wedding event coming up with the 10% offer or if they will do that for you.

The dress isnt ruined as such its just my bridesmaid is rather big chested and the dress is a v which is rather low- seen some in coast that may do will just need to get straps made for it.
A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j

  • So excited reading all your updates...everyone seems to be doing so much!

We went to a wedding fair today and got a few extra bits sorted...talked to our florist for an hour and she is so lovely...said we can lend free of charge anything we like from her shop...she's given us lanterns to use along our aisle as we walk down....all kinds. She is an old friend of my fiancee.

Its our hen do at the weekend...we're off to london for some suprises...my sister has organised it all and I have no idea what except it involves a west end show.

Next week hair and make up trial...very excited about that too.

Waiting on my bridesmaid dresses arriving and praying they are ok...quite nervous about that!

We've both written our vows...all seems to be feeling really real now...we're counting down the days...! 57 to go!
  • Everyone seems to be getting so much done. I had a 'wedding breakfast' at the church on Saturday, where all 9 couples getting married at the Minster in 2013 came to discuss arrangements etc. As much as the timing was annoying, it was actually really good.

We spoke to the director of music who played us potential music for coming in and going out. (We've picked the traditional ones - who knew OH was such a traditionalist?) We also picked out our hymns and who was doing our readings. We ordered our Orders of Service too (although numbers aren't quite final, I can't imagine it going above 75 now.) One of the clergy took us on a tour of the building showing us where we'd do what. It's such an impressive, historical place - we'll be signing the register next to a flag from the battle of Waterloo! We also had our banns read for the first time on Sunday morning which was really weird - the whole congregation prayed for us, and it all suddenly felt really real.

Had to cancel pre-wedding photo session due to snow, but we're trying to reschedule for next Saturday first thing. Fingers crossed. I am also trying to fit in a hair trial next Sunday, as well as church, Sunday lunch and showing OH's visiting relative around the local sights. Going to be a busy one!

Looks like MoH has organised hen - 16th March. Dinner and a show is all I know, but it wouldn't surprise me if she had something else up her sleeve too...

Also been planning DisneyMoon - we need to book all of our sit-down meals this week as (unbelievably) most people book the minute that they can, 180 days in advance! It is exciting thinking about Florida though hehe

Only major things I really need to sort soon are dress fitting (still not rearranged the one that was cancelled twice in January) and hair accessories/veil. Most other stuff is nicely on its way.

16th March is when my hen do is too! :D
  • :j Bridesmaid Dresses purchased!!

Really happy with the dresses, 1 adult and 1 child! I couldn't imagine trying to get more than 1 adult bridesmaid to like the dress! lol I gave my bridesmaid control over it, I want her to feel comfortable! Luckily we both fell in love with the same dress!! lol

We have our planning meeting on wednesday evening and Im getting really excited about that!

MOB and MOG are driving me nuts!!! lol My mum is having issues with finding an outfit, and she's being so OTT about it! lol :rotfl:So taking her out wednesday to try on loads of otufits and hopefully find something she likes! Im hoping she will try something she wouldn't normally go for, as she doesn't let herself try something new...so fingers crossed! lol

MOG - chose 2 dresses and sent me a pic...OMG I wouldn't ever put her wearing them EVER let alone at a wedding, let alone at her son's wedding!! They really were nasty! So I found her a dress, and she loved it! And being totally MSE....it was £9!!! lmfao I can't believe it! lol fantastic value for money! lol

I hope I dont sound like bridezilla again :rotfl:

Scared1, did you use any website or book to do this or did you just write what you wanted? We want to write our own vows too but aren't really sure where to start!
