April 2013 weddings

Haha Daisie I'm the opposite to you, I love making stuff. Am concentrating all of my makes so I don't think about the things that are upsetting me.
The main one is I'm so worried more people are going to say they aren't coming to Las Vegas. As well as the BM who is now a maybe, I haven't heard from another friend since I let her know that we are definitely going. I'm trying not to think the worst, I'm sure if she wasn't coming she'd just tell me but I can't help worrying! And then I worry that if people do cancel, everyone will be telling us that we should get married in the UK again /sigh
Also had mum stressing me out about various things, don't you wish sometimes people would just butt out  First it was about our menu choices (that we haven't even discussed yet!) and how we must chose one chicken or fish dish if we are having beef as the other one because it's the done thing. Yes I know this is the normal thing to do and is probably what we will do, but telling me I must do something just makes me dig my heels in :rotfl: Then it was about how having a reaffirmation of the vows in the UK is us trying to have two weddings!!! I really don't know where she comes up with this stuff =/
How was your menu tasting Daisie?
I'm off to a show tomorrow to talk to the decor lady about chairs covers, so kind of looking forward to that, another thing to tick off the listCross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
I am just still slightly annoyed because I remember the conversation I had with my mum regarding home made invitations slightly differently to how she remembers it. I remember me saying 'ok, we can do it if you're sure you can manage because I am not helping, I am not crafty and have no time' but SHE remembers us saying 'oh yes we will do it together' !!! Who is right, I do not know
The menu tasting was great. Bit of a bad idea for midweek though as we drank a lot (tasting all the wines and champagnes) but it was really nice. The food was good and I think we have more or less decided on our menu. There was a slight issue over my allergies so we have been invited to go back again another night. Not sure if we will go or not yet because actually I still tasted most of what I wanted to, except desserts.
I am disappointed as I ordered three possible wedding underwear solutions and they came yesterday. I got a wonderbra strapless bra which is really good and comfy, but looks terrible - beige and ugly. I wasn't too worried about that but my mum changed my mind by going on about how you want to feel beautiful and feminine and sexy on your wedding day, SHE had a lovely basque and stockings, etc etc (yeah well she was a true bride on the day of her wedding if you know what I mean whereas OH has seen me in all manner of underwear before now!) I also ordered two basques which both look lovely but - one of them is very pretty but completely unsupportive, so has to go back, and the other one doesn't fit at all....despite being my normal size and the same size as the other two that fit. Argh! So I will be sending that back too. Maybe I will try and order another one, or just go with the wonderbra and not be sexy.
Hope everyone else's planning is going well. I had a horrible dream last night where OH said he didn't love me and was only going ahead with the wedding as a marriage of convenience so there was someone to do the housework and he was going to see other people! :eek:0 -
Glad your tasting went well
And as to the undies, I'd try any others you can find and keep the wonderbra in reserve. And who cares if it's not sexy, if you're not constantly hoiking it up or down, or trying to stop it digging in or itching you then you'll actually have more time to look sexyAnd you can always make sure you whip it off quickly
Or you could change into something sexier later in the evening when you won't need to worry about it supporting you for very long? Or save all the sexy undies for the honeymoon
Your dream sounds awful, you poor thing! Did you punch your OH when you woke up? :P I've had a few wedding dreams as well, not always bad but strange nonetheless. Probably all this stress with people pulling out of Vegas and disagreements with my mum and sister.
Wedding show today was nice, sorted out the chair covers and got cards for some mobile beauty therapists in the area.
There was a helicopter there, I'd love to arrive by helicopter :rotfl: A tad over the top perhaps but we're not having a wedding car so... Nearly talked myself into hiring a magician but we can't really afford it, especially not if we get a string quartet to play for the first half of the reception!
Going to arrange a meeting with the celebrant next week. I feel on top of things, still keeping busy to avoid worrying about things I can't control. And I really can't wait to get away, the honeymoon will be our first holiday for two and a half years!Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -

Thanks, but they have none in my size! In fact I am desperate for the sale to end in the hope that they will then get more stock and have stuff in my size!0 -

We only have 1 adult bridesmaid and 1 child, but we haven't sorted their dresses yet either! It's the one thing that's still hanging in the balance! Unfortunately our adult bridesmaid was taken ill to hospital on Thursday and had her appendix removed on Friday and now is not in a good way, suffering badly with the pain and very very swollen so the whole bridesmaid dress hunt has had to be put on hold! I hope she starts to feel better soon though it's horrible seeing her suffering like she is! Had to call the paramedics out to her Saturday night after the hospital discharged her in the afternoon and IMHO she should never have been discharged but the stupid hospital have no beds and are so short staffed, they are just kicking people out to make room for the next!
Ooops...rant coming on about that ... sowwee!! lol:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

Hi ladies,
Long time no update so it's probably time for me to have a very long, rambling rant...
A lot has been going on lately and I've been getting a bit Bridezilla at times. I even burst into tears on phone to my mum about tablecloths!
The stress started last week when I got an email from the church office asking why I hadn't RSVPd to their invitation for their 'Wedding Breakfast' meeting on Sat Feb 9th. This is where the organist sorts hymns, the clergy decide who's taking the service etc etc etc. Apparently I'd been sent an invitation by post on Jan 3rd. This was the first I'd heard of it and it was 210 miles away up in Yorkshire. I go back monthly, but I'd arranged to go up the weeekend after, and everything was sorted (visiting relatives had bought train tickets, Mum had swapped her weekend off etc.) I asked and there was no other time to sort things, so I'm having to do the 420 mile round trip 2 weekends running!
I found this out on the day I was expecting my fiance back from visiting his Nan in hospital in Devon. I was really looking forward to having him back having been housebound and alone because of snow for previous 5 1/2 days. Then I got a call saying the car had broken down and he wouldn't be coming back for another day. He finally got back and we sorted out the weekends, but it wasn't good for my sanity.
Then, last weekend I had a bit of a meltdown when I realised how much still needed to be done in Halifax, when I'm barely going to be there. Pre-wedding photo session, hair trial, make-up trial, meet venue dresser to discuss layout, pick up foam flowers, sort church stuff, MOH dress shopping... *breathe* and at some point I have to fit in a hen do!
I realised it wasn't physically doable so I've cancelled my make-up lady and am going to do it myself. Lost £20 deposit but in scheme of things it's fine. I've managed to sort out photographer for the 10th when we're up there for the church. Flowers are being made this week. No idea how I'm going to do the rest, yet!
I'm now up to 50 RSVPs and about 20 "I'll have to check but I'll try my best" type responses. Deadline is Friday for most. I was panicking nobody would come, but there's been a flurry of replies this week.
Tablecloths are my nemesis. We have tables of different sizes, shapes and materials (e.g. http://s1060.beta.photobucket.com/user/lil_miss_insanity/media/2012-06-30-402.jpg.html). Nothing seems to fit them! I gave my mum the job to sort it because I was losing my mind, then she'd done her calculations without my table layout and got annoyed that it wouldn't work. I thought she was saying it was impossible and just completely broke down! I'm hoping it's salvagable - such little things can be the final straw.
*breathes* - okay that'll do for now! Better get back to work!
P.S. Stormtroopers don't respond to emails, website forms or facebook *sulks*0
