little stranger I send a hug too!! Is there no way you could do it? i.e cut some costs here and there? or even just do the actual wedding bit so you're married and do a celebration on your 1st anniversary or something? (that was our back up plan - didn't want to wait to be mr&mrs but could postpone the fun bits)

If not though, realy hope you're holding up ok. Can you get a new date scheduled? At least then you'll have something to look forward to! *hug*

    oh no :( (((hugs)))

Is there no way you could manage it at all?

We were in this position just before christmas when our venue let us down and we were then having to find somewhere else on a tight budget, I didn't think we would find anything! We ended up finding somewhere nicer, around the same costs, we had to bring our date forward 2 months but it's all worked out in the end!

Could you try looking at somewhere else? or a more low key day, after all you will still be surrounded by the same friends and family!?

  • You ladies are so lovely - thank you for your support.

I would do anything to let it go ahead, but without causing an uproar, it's not possible. I am VERY close to my mum but have come to realise that I depend on her final say way too much, and this has led us to our current situation. The money she would like to give is now a quarter of what she originally planned. She planned to pay for our whole reception (which we felt uncomfy accepting at first but realised how much it meant to her) for her now to think it's too expensive and can't be done at all, although she was the one wanting to confirm.

So I tried organising a marquee. Got prices for everything, got a 'yes' from an uncle with a field, and mum said yes, thought it was all a great idea and then the other day dropped the bombshell that she didn't think it was alright at all, and that having a marquee isn't the best idea in April (it could rain any time!).

We've lost too much money from changing our plans. I'm VERY upset, but I am slowly realising that I am stilll getting married, and it helps my lovely fianc! is saying lovely things like "just because our wedding date has changed, the way I feel about you hasn't - it's no different to last week really!" which has brightened my mood.

Sorry for the rant I suppose it's just all a bit fuzzy in my head right now. xx

No apologies needed honey, it's understandable that you feel let down.

You're right though, the only thing that matters is that you and your OH have your special day the way you want it! And if that takes a little longer to realise then it's not the end of the world.

Everything's a bit fuzzy for me as well. I had a phone call from a BM (one of two remaining, the other being my sister who won't wear the dress I've chosen!) yesterday letting me know she might not be coming to Vegas either as her husband is getting cold feet about the whole thing, they're moving house this year, it'll cost too much money etc etc. Hopefully she'll be able to come without him but she said it would be a struggle.

Now I know how OH felt last week! Really beginning to wish we'd just gone with a wedding in the UK :(

Am trying to see the best in everything (less money to spend on hair and make up for the ceremony, less people to feed afterwards :o) and I know we'll have an amazing time but am still sad about it all :(

Maybe it's just me but if I say I'll do something, I make sure it happens... Or at least not let people down 10 and a half weeks before we fly out!

    Rant over, and breathe!

    Hi girls

This is going to be a mammoth post so bear with me! :)

thelittlestranger - so sorry to hear your news :( As others have said, all that matters is that the two of you still want and plan to make that commitment to each other and none of your feelings have changed. I know having to change plans is rubbish though :(

skoobs - you are still going to have an AMAZING time in Vegas. And an amazing time at your reception at home. Heck, even if you had jetted off to Vegas just the two of you and grabbed two strangers as witnesses, it still would be the most special day of your life. I know it is difficult when people you love might not be present but just focus on you and your fiance, and the fact that you are going to promise your lives to each other. The rest is just detail.

It feels like it has all started happening for me. Was at my cousin's wedding on Saturday, the first in our generation, and all day people kept saying to me 'you'll be next!'

I just booked my first wedding dress fitting! VERY SCARY! Also depressing as I want to lose weight, and I am losing weight, but my fitting is 2 months before the wedding and I was hoping to be able to continue losing weight for longer than that. I will have to see what they say.

Also ordered a few different underwear items to try. Been a nightmare trying to sort strapless stuff for my stupid big boobs! Hoping something I have ordered to try on will work.

Also booked to go and get bridesmaids' dresses adjusted. Ordered a dance floor for our venue as especially after being at a ceilidh at my cousin's wedding on Saturday we decided the one that's already there definitely isn't big enough.

My to do list is shrinking at least!

Is anyone else finding that the weekends between now and the wedding are filling up crazily fast? I feel like I am hardly going to have a chance to breathe! And god knows when I will fit in a hen do!

    Thanks Daisie :)

I know it will be fine, I'm OK with it, it's just my OH that I'm worried for.
But you're right it's going to be AMAZING!!

And it does feel like it's happening for me as well, I think writing down 10 and a half weeks to go made me realise!

I'm still hoping to get away without a dress fitting but if I lose weight as I'd like to then I might need one.

Hope your undies trial works out!

I've cheered myself up today by doing serious damage to my bank balance... Don't know if my to-do list has grown smaller but my 'to-buy' list definitely has! :rotfl:

Time for an actual update from me too then! I now have elss than 9 weeks to go!!

    - Had my first dress fitting yesterday morning and am so excited. Had real wobbles last time I tried it on, but this time it looked so different with all the pins in for the alterations and customisation, plus I could see the effects of my ridiculously hardcore exercise regime which was amazing

    - Our wedding banns have now been read once in each of the necessary churches, we've been along to both but wow sitting hearing them in the beautiful little church we're getting married in was quite possibly the most romantic moment ever and has made me so so glad we chose a) a church wedding and b) my little village church in particular

    - Linked to above, have chosen all prayers & hymns etc

    - Hair/make up trial and bridesmaid dress alterations booked for Feb

    - Pre-wedding photo trial booked for Feb

    - Cake topper received, pen for guest book, favours and table decorations ordered

    - Flowers all confirmed

    Big to dos...
    - OH trying his suit on
    - Confirming best man etc have been measured for suits
    - Ordering waistcoats & ties
    - Ordering vases for flowers (family friend doing them)
    - Confirm music etc with band
    - Big appointment at reception venue on Sat to finalise bits with them
    -Make table numbers/table plan
    - Chase some RSVPs

    Think that's most of it..!!!

Has anyone else got any opinions or advice on our music choices?

I spoke to the registry office yesterday and they said we can have "pop" songs that have religious words such as 'angel' 'god' 'heaven' including if we wanted robbie Williams Angels!

So going to go back through the lists of songs as there were others we would have preferred but didn't have because Of those words!
