OMG are you eligable for joing places like Costco? They do buffet food quite cheap and do pre made sandwich trays and cold meat trays

Thanks ladies, just someone not looking at me like I am insane is a ncie feeling, my other half can survive on very little sleep and does his best to understand that I am absolutely cream crackered but at the same time doesn't really 'get' that I need my 7/8 hours!

Last night was better, I took another herbal remedy and he gave me a little back rub which always helps me relax. I didn't sleep brilliantly but it was one of the better ones....just a shame I now have a gum/tooth infection and my cheek is all puffed up like a hamster . I had an appointment with the hygienist tomorrow so have managed to cancel that and get one with my dentist so I can get some antiobiotics/pencillin etc. Just typical!

Have a meeting with the new lunch venue tonight so have got to leave work slightly early, go home and get OH and then go up there, could be interesting :)

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

Glad you got some sleep jtr, hope you get even more tonight :) Hope your meeting goes ok too!

My OH is the same as yours! He works shifts so can sleep in to catch up, whereas I have to get up at 6 every morning so one late night means I'm scr3wed for the rest of the week =/ I think he's starting to get that I'm always tired though and if I say I'm tired I mean more tired that usual :rotfl:

OMGhelp what kind of food are you looking for and what quality? If cost is the only consideration Iceland do loads of buffet type food. If that's not what you're looking for M&S do party platters to order in.

My big news is I met my BMs last night and one is pregant

Tbh I'd kind of guessed so it wasn't a massive shock and I'm mostly OK with it, I know why they've done it now. People do what they need to do! I know that if it happened it would be when we were getting married, sods law!! It does mean I'm down to two BMs though =/ And she'll probably miss the reception here in the UK as well as her due date is the day before!

So to cheer myself up I've contacted my dress designer about my dress, hoping to order it in the next couple of weeks EEK!

And mum said my invitation envelopes arrived so I'll pick them up later and mock up a couple to show you all.

Hope everyone else is doing ok today xx

 at pregnant bridesmaid! Had you already bought her dress or anything? You reminded me that my work mate is due in May (We think) and I think she will miss my reception and will be heavily pregnant at my wedding ceremony!

I think I found some of my wedding mojo again! :T We went to the lunch venue tonight and I am absolutely made up with it. The bar area is nice and then they are giving us their little nightclub bar as a gathering area after serving a reception drink and it has lots of funky neon lights! Then we will make our way down to the vaults for lunch. Before I bore you, here are some pics:

It's lovely and intimate/atmospheric and OH is thrilled too as he loves places with some history behind them. As we only have around 25 guests we have lots of table set up options and the co-ordinator is going to email me some mock plans so I can work out how I want it. They will place lots of church candles on the alcoves and tea lights on the tables. I can't find any pictures of it but they also have a huge outside decked patio with lovely parasols, little trees and a fountain so extra photo opportunities there :D.

They have said it's no problem if we arrive early (which we will if it is raining!) and we have the room until 4pm, but we will have to leave around 2.30pm which almost seems a shame now! They have been incredibly flexible too, we are having a buffet style roast dinner for £10.95 per head and when we mentioned only having one Veggie she said we could choose a bar meal for that guest and replace the Veggie option with a dessert for the same price! So we are now having the Roast Dinner followed by Apple & Cinnamon crumble. I couldn't believe the reception drink prices either - £8.95 for a bottle of cava and they will provide free OJ to make it into Bucks Fizz so it's working out at just over £1.20 each person, other venues were quoting almost £5 for the same thing .

Because the room is so interesting on it's own I am going to be minimal on decorations, we are having our Maldives themed cake for the wedding day so I want to do a few of these for the tables:

I will just add a splash of colour and some petals/crystals to the tables. We are going to cut the cake just after arrival so that the photographer can capture it and then we will have our lunch. Yay, so pleased/relieved/excited again! Can finally go ahead and do my invites now :rotfl:

  • Wow that venue looks amazing, definitely a great solution. With all the candles it'll look so romantic, you won't really need to worry about decorating it much either. And it sounds like you've got an amazing deal! Can't wait to see photos of the day!

Yep I had bought her dress, but that's it luckily. Unfortunately she'll be 8 month pregnant when we fly to Vegas and 9months for the reception so I don't think she'll be at either :(

I wrote a couple of pages back about my sister not wanting to wear the BM dress I'd chosen. Of course the first thing my mum said last night when I told her was 'Oh maybe we can send for two of the other dresses then'

ARGHHHH! No we can't and stop trying to do my sister's dirty work for her

I actually was going to explain to her how I feel about it (which is I like both dresses but it's still annoying me that sister won't wear the one I chose.) but I got so mad I couldn't. I don't know what to do to be honest, I don't think I can put up with 5 more months of them both going on at me! Maybe I'll just toss a coin :rotfl: But even if I won, they still wouldn't leave it alone... /sigh.

Anyway on a happier note, my invitations look fab, am really happy with them :) Going to spend one day this weekend trimming them to size etc with mum and refusing to enter into any BM dress discussions of course.

I haven't mocked up any complete invitations yet as I've only got one invitation card trimmed to size and I need to use that as a template for the others :rotfl: Here is a quick picture of the outside though, what do you think?

Am so glad your visit went well jtr, it looks gorgeous from the pictures :D Intimate is exactly the right word! I can tell from your post it's a weight off your mind, you must be thrilled. And the food they're doing sounds like a bargain!

I love your centre piece idea too, so fitting with the Maldives theme.

Edit: still waiting to hear from the wedding dress people, eek wish they'd hurry up! xx

Hey, sorry for going all quiet. I've been going out of my mind at work and it's pushed wedding planning to the back of my mind. Plus, it's my MOH turn in Gran Canaria in a few days so I have to concentrate on my friend first and foremost.

JTR, your venue is beautiful.:) I'm very jealous - deep down I would have loved a really picturesque venue like that, but everywhere pretty that was close enough had extortionate food and drink prices :(

    Love your invites Sk00bie. :T

I've not started mine yet and I'm struggling. Something in me resents the idea of paying for expensive invites, but I also know I don't have a lot of time (or skills) to make them myself. Nor do I have many good ideas. You see, we're having a Disney/Scifi mix at our wedding (only subtle, e.g. cake http://pinterest.com/pin/275001120967669998/ photobooth props etc.) I kind of want to subtly reflect that in the invites. I also want to include an info pack with hotels, taxi numbers, order of day etc. I'm really running out of energy for all this...

jtr - congratulations on sorting a venue! It looks gorgeous :)

    skoobie - fab invites!

Well I have been pootling along here. We paid our 6 month deposit to the venue last week, scary number - but it means that more is paid for than is due to be paid now, which is good, because we're not at all sure what OH's Christmas bonus situation is going to be like. We've also paid deposits for the DJ and lights, and the chair covers and venue decoration. So that's all good. Oh, and we've got in touch with the photographer and arranged to have him for an extra few hours so he catches the cake cutting and first dance - thought it would be mad to pay loads of money for special lighting and stuff in the evening and then not get any photos of it!

My mum came round on Sunday and we finished the day invitations :) but they are nowhere near as nice as skoobie's so I don't want to post any pics now!

Ooh - I also got a second pair of shoes (can't remember if I told you that already!) AND....a veil! Got it off ebay, £17, bargain. It's gorgeous! There is some family drama attached to that but ask me to tell you another time....got to go and eat my lunch, starving!

Glad to hear plans are going on well, we are totally the best month thread there is :D

    Hi All,

I posted when this thread began but then sadly I was diagnosed with breast cancer (I'm only 29) in June so I haven't been doing much wedding prep. However, I've now had all my chemotherapy (I still have surgery & radiotherapy to go) so feel less poorly so am getting back on it :)

    I've organised:
    - my venue http://www.northbrookpark.co.uk/ - waddya think?
    - date is still 21/04
    - caterers
    - guest list
    - band
    - invitations - ordered not sent
    - arranged the person who is doing our table plan board & guest book
    - flowers
    - master of ceremonies
    - registrar
    - next week we go to register our intent to marry :)
    - bar
    - OH's ring
    - cake (being made by best friend)

Still have lots to do including my dress! I have an appt on 9th Nov to go try some on though :)

Where are you all getting your bridesmaid's dresses from as that's next on my list. I have 4 bms

    Love Jo x
Lover of languages, handbags, travel, my Border Terrier, my husband, cheese & gin. Kicker of cancer's butt. Not necessarily in that order ;)
