I actually chose my shoes first, I just loved them
Once I'd seen them in real life and saw that the colour was 'ivory' and not 'cream/yellow' as they appeared in some pictures online I went ahead and ordered them. They are suede so the ivory won't have to match the dress exactly.
Tried them on when I was at mum's the other day, didn't want to take them off! still love them
My talks with the dress people are progressing, just trying to decide if I want a ribbon edged petticoat or one with ruffles... Decisions decisions!Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
Girls, I need some advice!
Got an email yesterday inviting us to a menu tasting evening at our venue, which sounds like it is for lots of people (ooh wonder if llaurablue will be there?!). This is earlier than I expected so I haven't spoken to the venue about my food allergies yet. I was going to request a meeting with the chef to discuss it because this is my wedding day and the one day in my life where I actually want to be sure I can eat some nice food!
Anyway, I emailed the wedding coordinator lady and explained my food allergies and my concerns that on the big menu tasting evening I won't be able to taste most of the dishes, and said that I had been going to ask to meet with the chef nearer the time. She replied...
Thank you for your reply. I think that you will be able to try the majority of the starters and most of the main it will just be the deserts really. It might be a good idea to come along and Chef will be there to answer any questions you might have and come up with a few alterations to suit your requirements.
Now, she clearly has no understanding of my allergies (dairy, eggs and nuts) because I have looked at the type of menu options they offer and I really won't be able to taste most things. Also, chef being there to answer people's questions is quite different to sitting down with him and really working out what he could provide for me.
I have replied to her and said thanks and we'll be there, but then a part of me is really not feeling satisfied with this. I don't want to be a bridezilla, but...I NEVER make a fuss about my allergies, I never want to cause trouble and am always the first to say 'don't worry I'll just have some bread/no dessert/no starter' etc.... But this is my wedding day. I want to firstly be sure that what I am eating will be safe (my allergies are life threatening and that would REALLY ruin the day!) and secondly that I will actually have something nice to eat (including canap!s, including dessert!) on my big day. We're paying sixteen grand for this wedding so is it too much to ask to sit down with the chef individually and work this out?
Am I being a bridezilla? Should I just shut up and put up with it like I usually do? Am I within my rights to expect to be able to meet up with the chef or is that too much to ask?0 -
Also...on the menu tasting evening with lots of other couples there it will be really awkward and embarrassing to be constantly asking questions and dominating the chef...I hate drawing attention to myself and to everyone else's eyes they won't know the facts and I will just look like a really fussy bridezilla, so I know I will just shut up and not eat anything and not ask any questions0

I think that its only right you should try the food you will be paying for and would really push for a private meeting with chef to address concerns create a menu and then be able to have time to try itA big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0

Hi Daisie!
I think you should go along, play it by ear and see what happens.
If the Chef is busy you can just get a feel for the kind of food they do/meet some other brides etc. And if he isn't isn't that busy you'll be able to have a chat, ask questions and organise another, more in depth meeting if required. Maybe suggest he recommended a few dishes to suit your tastes and allergies, then arrange a time when you can go and try this selection. This would be better for them as they wouldn't need to produce a whole lot of unnecessary dishes for you.
I'd just ignore the wedding coordinator for the moment to be honest, as you said she likely doesn't understand your allergies. If you feel you need a meeting with the chef after the tasting then insist on one
Oh and it's not bridezilla at all to expect to be able to eat your wedding meal!Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -

Thanks, that is just the sort of sensible advice I needed! What would I do without our amazing April thread :rotfl:0 -

Hey hun
I had same problem with the OH he is allergic to quite a bit.
As others have said I would go and play it by ear.
You won't look like a bridezilla you'll look like someone who wants to be able to enjoy your day. It's not like your making unrealistic demands for the entire menu just want to amend your meal a little so you'll be ok
I thought I was having a breeze with my meal selections as no allergies we're brought to my attention. My brother is a vegan but said he would be ok eating veggie so as not to make hassle. Low & behold I mentioned in passing about him being vegan and a health nut (tee-total ect) to cater and she was like right ok give us 2 options for each of the courses and we'll sort it :T I hope you have the same kind of luck hunny.
Now though a load of people have started to tell me oh I can't eat, won't eat, shouldn't eat this even though I asked them in April AND put the menu on our website  I know have 7 meals I need to changeFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
