Oh jelly tot, that is lovely! Very timeless and elegant :D

Skoobie - your 'box of wedding stuff' made me chuckle, I have way too many boxes of wedding stuff now :o, I really need to sit down and work out what I am using and sell the rest.

Ok, this could be a huge update from me so I apologise in advance for the length of the post!

Well, I am not sure if I mentioned it in my previous posts but for about a month I have been having serious dress wobbles (I don't think I did mention it because I was a bit embarassed about it :o). I don't know why really, I do like the dress I have but when I look at the pictures of me in it, I don't love it. I had tried on a lot of dresses before buying this one and I think it was a good compromise on all the bits from other dresses that I really liked - I hope that makes sense!

The second dress I ever tried on has been stuck in my head since May, it was one the lady said she shouldn't let me try on because it was way over my budget but she wanted me to try that shape/style of dress and I really loved it BUT because it was so expensive I think I pushed it out of my head and carried on my search. Every time recently I have thought about dresses I keep thinking back to that one. I even found myself starting to look for one on Ebay and low and behold, this week, I found one. My mum never saw me in this dress as it was the first shop I visited and my best friend came (he really liked the dress) so I decided I had to go and try it on again with my mum. Fortunately the shop I tried it in still had it.

Well, we went today and it was every bit as gorgeous as I remembered, I really felt like a million dollars in it, it's elegant but slightly sexy, very flattering on my figure with the perfect amount of detail and it's white! My other dress is deep Ivory and I think that wasn't helping either. So I messaged the lady on Ebay and it's the right size, she had it altered for a DD bust - same as me and the best bit is that it seems to have been ordered to her particular height! The shop said today that because I am only 5'3" they would have to order the dress to be shorter in the body or it wouldn't sit right. Well the seller is 5'5" and wore 1" heels and I am wearing 3" heels - so effectively the same height and she never had it taken up :T. On top of that we agreed the price at £320, it retails for close to £1,300 and she has had it cleaned and is giving me the hoop.

Yesterday I was really worrying about the money side of things, I knew I could afford to get the new dress without selling the other one but I felt bad that mum bought the other one and now that we have booked a venue for lunch, costs are creeping up. Well, I opened my post this morning and there was a letter from Egg advising me that they have upheld my PPI complaint and are refunding me £3,348!! I couldn't believe it, I was hopeful I would get something but I never dreamed it would be that much! So I have been able to get the new dress without worrying.

Then I bought some more decoration bits - a set of three tall tea light holders, they are little glass bowls on thin legs, the talles is about 40cm, then 30cm, then 20 (will take a pic as they are lovely!) and they were a bargain at £18. Then I went to the range and got 4 big hurricane vases and 4 round mirror plates and decorate them with sand, candles and sea shells. I also popped into the florist on the same road as our wedding venue and have hired two artifical bay/rose trees for the reception, they were £30 with just a credit card swipe as deposit and they are going to deliver and collect them on the day! Also bought the A4 frame for my wedding reception welcome sign.

So........I now just need two large white bird cages which I will fill with pom-pom flowers for our table, a sign with our names on for the table, some church candles for the vases, some artifical orchids for the tables, table runners, place cards...argh....still loads to do!

    Hi Girls

Glad all is moving on so well!

Jellytot your dress is beautiful! :D Wish I had the figure for it!

JTR & cats2012 sorry to hear of your dress wobbles, although jtr I think your new dress was definately meant to be! Cant wait until you receive it and try it on. The length sounds perfect too! cats2012 dont worry about it please I bet it will be perfect, I've developed alopecia through stress and worry albeit not wedding related and I wouldnt recommend it in the run up to a wedding  I'm sure you could wear a bin bag and still look fab.

I've felt really non weddingy this past few months as I'd booked and paid most things ages ago, but now I'm starting to get my invitations together. However I need your help if anyone of you can.

This is my invitation - sorry about the blotted out bits, just for privacy

My problem is the size! They're 219mm x 139mm, I cant get the kind of envelopes I want to fit nicely.

I want a navy pearlescent envelope, but the closest I can get is a C5, it's very big compared to the invite so I'm wondering do I either just not worry over something so small and minute like a slightly too big envelope or do I try cut them down and get a wallet or something to put them in.

    What would you personally do?

Do know that I'm not very weddingy, I dont want pearls, diamantes, ribbons, bows, hearts, butterflies or the like - so I know the invite will be a bit out there for alot of people.
  • I think your invite looks lovely and modern :) and i wouldn't worry to much about envelope size as people wont even notice,,, is anything being written on the back? If not you could mount them to make them the same size as the c5 envelopes

Hi butterfly2001 - thanks so much for replying and liking them. They are quite nice when you see them, and do represent myself and OH quite well. They're just a large postcard from vistaprint, they are gloss on the front and plain white matt on the back. I didn't intend to write anything on the back so maybe using a backing board may be a good option.

Eek! I've done it, just ordered my dress!

Now to wait 8-12 weeks for it to arrive, I don't know if I can! :rotfl:

I got my lingerie back in the new size and it fits so much better :T

I sent out save the dates for the reception to friends and family who live further away, when the second batch arrive we'll hand them out to people who live closer. Next on my list is to sort the invitations for the wedding and that means sorting out where we'll have a meal after the ceremony. As we're going to be abroad with only a few people we aren't having a big do, just a nice meal and then drinks and dancing somewhere. It's getting closer now, less than 5 months to go!!!

jellytot - your dress is stunning!

jtr - that's so fab that you could get your dream dress, yay!

cathy - Love your invitations, very stylish! I second butterfly's suggestion of mounting them to fit the larger envelopes, maybe not to match the C5, just to make them slightly less small, if that makes sense?
