Hi Girls
Just thought I'd drop in, I'm kinda avoiding the thread now coz I'm so boring an super organised.
Need to update my list though so here goes
Dress, bought & paid
Shoes, bought & paid
Birdcage veil, still need to get, budgeting £20
Hair, doing my own
Makeup artist, deposit paid, still need £200, doing BM & MOB as well as me
car, mostly paid, still need £ 200
Invitations, bought and paid
Chapel aisle lanterns, bought and paid
Hotel, half paid, €3000 still needed
Dj, deposit paid, still need £700
Comedian, needs paid, £1200
Bridesmaid dresses, bought and paid
BM shoes, bought and paid
Wedding ring, bought and paid
This is just the stuff I'm paying, although my parents are paying the hotel
OH is getting the suits, and paying for the HM so not for me to worry about
So still just saving and paying for things, no new developments at all0 -
Woo hoo! I've made progress! Reading what you've all been up to has given me a kick up the bum I think
So I ordered the pocketfolds and envelopes for the reception invitations!
Not much I know but it's a start
Your centre pieces sound great Thelittlestranger!
I was thinking about getting some books as well, I've got some tiny little lanterns and need something to put them on and books was the best I'd come up with. I love reading too so it fits.
Does anyone else have any other ideas?
I've also got some great frames for the table numbers, was thinking a few books in a pile with the lantern on top, the frame next to that and then some tea lights and flowers spread around. Argh it's so hard to decide what to do!!!
The next big thing is to order my dress... Eeeek!
Cathy you sound super organised as always :T
Oh and ideally we're paying for everything for the BMs, definately dress and shoes. I'm getting them a necklace each and a bag as their BM gifts, and probably a goody bag of some sorts. I'd like to pay for hair and make up but will see how much spare cash I have left at the time :rotfl:
I still haven't made a desicion re BM dress issue. Will see my two BMs next week and discuss it with them... still irks me that sis will end up getting her own way thoughCross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
Hi all - me gatecrashing again
I've made a bit of progress too...we've ordered our ringsyey. And the material for a sash for my junionr BM has come in too so I can give that to OH to make sure he matches the suit stuff.
He's not even started looking thoughhe works shifts so finding time is a nightmare but he seems to have no motivation - anyone got any tips how to give him a kick up the ****???
Next step is having a first enquiry about honeymoon next week, meeting vicar again week after next so need to have chosen prayers/readings and then my junior BM is coming down for her dress shopping in mid November.
Have made 20/50 invite bases (i.e. without the text) as we want to send them out in probably 3-4 weeks (eek) to avoid xmas post. All our invites look the same and are going at once though (i.e. daytime and evening).
Hope all going well with the rest of youOfficially Mrs B as of March 2013

Aww thank you Faith177 and sk00Bie!! We have 25 books now, and it's been so fun buying them. I need about another 5 or so. I love charity shop hunting! We also have ribbon to wrap around them as well that I picked up from Hobbycraft and it says 'happily ever after' on it. Perfect!!!
The one thing I'm struggling with are teacups. We need ten and I have 3. Thing is I don't want to pay a fortune for them (we just can't afford it) and hiring them isn't working out much cheaper. Plus a lot of companies charge extra for them having to wash up!
sk00bie your ideas sound fab! I love the idea of lanterns, do they have room for tealights in them? We're using tealights as well, I think it will create a really nice mood.
It's really handy to hear what other people have paid for. We've paid for their dresses, shoes, jewellery (also their gift) and I've said we'll pay for hair but they will have to pay for trial. Ideally, I'd love to get them everything but me and OH just really can't afford it.
Has anyone got wedding plans for the weekend? You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me. ~ C.S. Lewis0 -
Well I thought I was doing well with my planning, until my MOH rang last night to tell me that the bridal shop where I've ordered my dress, tiara and veil from has gone bust! They've stripped the shops bare (there were 4 bridal shops) and probably won't be able to fulfil orders!
Am absolutely devastated! Paid £600 deposit and my dream dress and with just over 5 months to go I'm not sure if it's enough time to order it from somewhere else! Am gutted! :-(0 -

Sending you huge hugs and sympathymy dress took 4 months to come so you could probably do it if you get it ordered soon? And I echo what someone else has said, if you have insurance, get in touch now. Argh this is just a nightmare, so sorry for you

Thanks ladies! Am still awaiting a response from them as to whether they will be able to give me my dress or not, but after speaking to many similar brides outside the shop today, I'm not holding out much hope. Have got wedding insurance thank god, but nothing can be done until the bridal shop give me a definite answer, and that's not looking like its gonna happen soon!!! Arggh!
Have spoken to a bridal shop who can order my dress in for me, to arrive in March (wedding is 6th April) but that's if I order it next week!!!!0
