Jtr...I think I am being really stupid and have missed a major development.......I thought you were doing a quick registry office do and then flying to the Maldives the same day? What's all this about eve and day invites and all the other details and so on? I'm sure I've missed something, sorry! - but what's happening with your wedding now?0

Hey all hope you had a good weekend
My BM dresses arrived on Saturday so I'm really pleased as I only ordered them on Thursday afternoon.
All thr appointments are now changed for next week so that's a wait off my mindPlus OH is in my good books again after we had a MASSIVE row on Friday because he mis-read a text I sent (idiot boy!).
First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Lol! Well you are 99% right, that is what we are doing on wedding daybut we are having an evening reception when we come back from the Maldives as there are a lot of people that we wanted to celebrate with who can't come to the ceremony
. That way, I still get all my fresh flowers, decorations, wedding cake etc and we have something to look forward to when honeymoon is over. The evening reception is taking place on the May bank holiday weekend so I have invites for those attending the ceremony and party and then those just attending the party - confusing huh?

Hi Ladies!
Okay so apologies for my previous mega rant post. Things just got crazy and I have a very low stress tolerance!!
It's fab to hear so many of you are organised. It's given me a bit of a kick up the bum!
So... spoke to mum. Turns out she wants to pay for me, her and my 'maids to have a lovely relaxing morning having hair and make up done on morning of our wedding! So I don't have to worry about paying for that...
Have also thought about photographer... we still absolutely love her and whilst it is a lot of money, it's the only thing we're splashing out on. My other half is an amateur photographer and it's something we're both passionate about. But we've emailed her and asked if maybe we could leave the physical album for now and buy at a later date as I know they tend to keep photos for at least a year!
In another way to save money, I have decided to make my own wedding invites. I really enjoyed playing around with these yesterday! Are we allowed to post pics on here? If anyone would like to see? I need to know they don't look rubbish haha! You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me. ~ C.S. Lewis0 -
Pics are good! We'd love to see your invitations
My mum is making ours and they look very sweet. I might post a pic too when I get hold of them0 -
Well, we went to meet with our 'venue stylist' (ooh err) and sound/lighting people on Sunday. Technically it was just to choose our chair covers, which are included in our package, but of course that was not all it turned out to be...
So....chose some lovely yellow chair cover sashes, which are very pretty. Tick.
Loved some gorgeous pearl buckle things to go in the centre of the sashes but at £80 we have decided....no!
Probably will go with some draping for the top table and the cake table. £65 seems a lot but will look so bare without it...
We're definitely having a twinkle backdrop at £380 but we have always wanted that so that is nothing new to the budget. So pretty!
The sound/lighting guy did the hard sell. We are definitely going to use their DJ now for in between the ceilidh band and after it. We were thinking of just using an iPod but it was worrying us a lot and I think we sort of thought, that is something that could really change how the evening goes overall, and with the amount we're spending on the wedding overall it seems silly to not get a DJ for the sake of a couple of hundred pounds, when we might end up really kicking ourselves in the night if the iPod doesn't work out well. So we have gone with the DJ and some lights (uplighters at the base of the pillars in the room, no tacky disco lights!) and the plus side of that is that they work that venue all the time and he said they will take charge and help the band set up, show them where is best to put their equipment for the acoustics of the room, etc. So I think we are definitely going with that.
OH quite wants a sparkly dance floor but I think we are going to give that one a miss, it's a lot of money and won't be appreciated as much with a ceilidh as with a normal disco I think.
Then there were all sorts of other things...mist machines for the first dance(!)...a stage for the top table and then the band....that I think we will be able to live without!!! They were doing quite a hard sell and we had to remind ourselves that we do NOT need all these things they say we do! Lol!
But I am really excited now, I think it is going to look very prettyyay!

Guess who's having the sparkly dancefloor *ahem* I had no intention of having it but then I saw it and kind of got swept away! I'm a diamante type buckle on my chair sashes too...I just can't say no to pretty things!
We're now at the six month mark and my to do list isn't really changing. I think I need a week off work to make phonecalls, spend hours on ebay & etsy and buy things! I'm trying my dress on in the next two weeks, maybe then it'll feel real. I've always worked better under pressure so perhaps soon I'll start feeling more motivated!0 -

Ooooh it is so very pretty! Just would add a huge chunk to the budget on top of the DJ and lights at £799 and the backdrop at £380OH really wants it though so you never know, he may decide to go with it after all...
I loved all the buckles for the chair sashes but I have decided my rule is 'if I don't get this, will I look around on the day and wish I had?' and these are something that I don't think I will even think about on the day (I hope!). Whereas something like the lights and the DJ I think we would definitely miss. Obviously in an ideal world I'd have it all!!!
Are you having the stage? And how are you organising the room - top table at the side in front of the windows, or at the end of the room opposite the bar? So exciting to have a venue buddy lol!0 -
We're not having the stage, I wasn't overly keen on that. I've not really thought about the room layout, but think we'll be having it with the top table running along the side in front of the window - I've seen the room set up a couple of ways and thought that looked the best. We're having their DJ and light curtain too
It has kind of blown the budget but it made such a difference to the room when we were at the fair (the light curtain and uplighters especially) I think it'll be worth it for the evening. We'll have to budget on other bits but none of the bands we've looked at are free on our date so by scrapping that we have extra cash!
Actually the diamante buckles were the first thing I booked. We've gone for the lace chair sashes because I wanted something quite simple, and I keep chopping and changing my colour scheme but lace is safe as my dress has already been bought so it all ties in! I'm sure 95% of our guests won't even notice, but I'll know they're there!0 -
Hi April Brides/Grooms
My now fiancee :j and I are playing on getting married on 27th April! As the title of the post says its only 199 days away.
The Church is kind of sorted out my mum is a church warden so pretty much whatever day we'd like she will sort out for us.
Venue - we have found one we love but parents need to see it as they are paying and are a little undecided and have asked us to look at a few more luckily one of them is one we love the look of as well but thought would be too expensive.
So what should we have done by now?! Whats the most important? Any hints or tips would be great as we soo dont know where to start!
one question i do have is how did you pick your BM's?? I so far am having H2B's sister and would like a friend or 2 of mine but i am in a group of 8 girls and picking them all would be too much but picking only 1 or 2 would be friendship sucide! what to do?!
thanks in advance and happy planning! xxSealed Pot Challenge - 1264:jGetting Married 27th April 2013:j0
