April 2013 weddings

The weather could be a BIG issue for me last year it snowed on the 28th April
(perfectly normal in Scotland apparently)
I know how those feeling not too with the wedding stuff at the moment feel I keep getting phases like that
Got a load of things sorted last week so feel much happier and actually have a wedding time now. So our official date and time is now 5:30pm on the 27th April 2013. This means I have plenty of time to relax during the day and have plenty of time if last minute things need doing. I'm not a morning person at all so this suits me fine plus I can take the dogs for a nice long walk just me & the Ipod to get any last minute stress out.
The minister was lovely and she had loads of ideas for quirky old fashioned things she wanted to do with some very nice meanings behind them. I think we decided on candle lighting, hand fasting, sand pouring, symbolic present giving, jumping over a broom and drinking from a quaich I can't wait
My mum finally found her mother of the bride outfit so HUGE problem solved there. I had visions of spending the WHOLE of February trailing around the shops.
Caterers have turned out to be amazing and the whole team at the castle are lovely. They really seem to go out of their way for you and nothing is too much trouble which is such a relief.
The ballons turned out to be really good value for money and really pleased I looked into them while I was up there. OH is a bit confused as to why we have to have balloons and can't the tables just have cutlery and glasses on them!! He quickly learnt not to make stupid remarks like that again.
I'm pretty much done now there are only a few tiny bits left to do. They are mostly presents for BM, Ushers ect.
OH took a load of his stuff away with him yesterday for his new place so there are big gaps all round the house where it all was. Feels so horrible walking past what use to be the office/spare room and now it's pretty much bare all but the desk and a few clothes (non essentials like suits ect) and my DVD's.First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Hi all!
I forgot to subscribe so totally didn’t realise you guys had replied/left new posts.
Not too sure how to multi quote so heres my replies!
We have the church and have a shortlist of 2 venues. My parents are away and are contributing so they need to see and have a say so! We are pretty sure which venue we love and would like. With one venue caterers and DJ come with the package so they would be 2 less things to sort out. If all goes well we will be booking and paying our deposit on our 6 month to go date!
Dress shopping is being started when my mums back – my gran left money in her will for this so it would be very wrong of me to go without her and I would never ear the end of it!
Save the dates we know exactly what we’d like so as soon as everything is signed and sealed we can sort them and send them out!
Invites we’ve seen a gorgeous design we like so now need to work out how to make them and then when things like dates/times catering (we’re letting people be fussy and choose what they eat!) etc are confirmed we can finish them off and get them sent out. May seem silly to do both STD’s and invites as its so soon but next year seems to be wedding year so I’d like to get the date in peoples diaries while we can.
The BM issue is still on going. I have 4 girl cousins – 2 of which are out of the country and the other 2 are up north. Then OH has 2 girl cousins we regularly see and a few we don’t – again major headache! I don’t have a sister to ask and my best mate who I was chief bridesmaid for has been somewhat AWOL – I’ve seen her about 3 times since her wedding, she’s not even asked for my new address, come out for birthdays or generally replied to me but she’ll update facebook all the time. Both my grandma and OH’s granddad have been very ill, in and out of hospital most of this year and our house has been a DIY nightmare and we’ve shed more than a few tears over and ranted on facebook but still no word! Since I’ve let her know I’m getting married I hear from her all the time and it seems she wants to suck and I dotn want a BM like that! –Sorry Rant over!!!
Cats2012 – I like the handing out of jobs to friends a few were plotting then hen last night. But im such a control freak I don’t know how much I could handover
Faith177 – yay! Wedding twin! We have 27 weeks and 5 days! Thanks to the BIL2b I know this! My OH’s work is a bit of nightmare too (plus trying to do up a house ) but so far he has been soo enthusiastic and wanting to do stuff which is reassuring.
Love the cake idea that will be gorgeous and unique to you.
Butterfly2001 – I think we have enough time I met someone who planned and got married in 3 months! My main worry is people thinking im expecting! The date we’ve chosen though is the day before our 4th year anniversary. I have found pintreast (sp) has been amazing for find lil bits and pieces so you can go back and think about if its for you or not. Other things I’ve been doing is watching things on ebay to get ideas. My worry is time for the dress as some people have been put ridiculous lead times on them!
jtr2803 – what are sweet trees and sweet cones? I am planning on doing a candy buffett but these sound interesting!
I had a brace as I didn’t like my teeth and it was the best money I’ve spent and such a great result - im just so glad OH proposed after I had my brace taken off!
Well done for you for giving up! It will be hard for now but just keep doing it and you will feel amazing.
I get the wedding mojo thing we are full pelt trying to get it all sorted and planning but Friday night we were watching the football and OH was so keen to do more I just said lets have 1 night off and chillax – good job we did as we were woken up at 7am with sofas at our front door and nowhere to put them as we were sleeping downstairs in their space!
Anyway thats enough from me hope you are all well and happy planning! xxxSealed Pot Challenge - 1264:jGetting Married 27th April 2013:j0 -
Urgh! Saying it in weeks makes it seem like there is not enough time and I've been planning since Jan 10! How your managing to do it PPink I don't knowFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0

sounds like you're very organised PPink!
I think you're all right about the weather what will be will be and if your prepared not to worry then that is the best thing!
I am not too worried about ideas it's just sorting it all I started my wedding planning (documenting what i like) last year and very little has changed so just need to buy and book! My biggest issue since sorting date so far was whether to stick with my colour choice! But i think I am just going to add another colour on the day. Found my invite design too can't wait to make them, also doing save the dates,,,, why not lol!
Had some other good news the Minister I wanted may be able to do the service after allA big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0 -

You'll be fine hun you have time still.
I'm just Miss organised as I can only get up to Scotland twice a year so I have to sort loads out quickly.
Mine is turning in to a bit of a logisical nightmere
Plus I have my best friend Chris coming over from Canada for the wedding and I want to show him around as he has never been over here before so I need to have everything wrapped up before he arrives reallyFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

You'll be finewhen we ordered our rings on Saturday the lady seemed surprised that we were doing it so far in advance. I think you do need to allow a bit of time for things like that though as my ring is going to take 6 weeks to come in as I have a very small size. OH's is more standard and should take 3 weeks.
I don't want to stress you more AT ALL but if I were you I would sort out flowers and cake soonish if you can. I'm sure you will be absolutely fine at this stage but they do get booked up quite quickly - I know my cake lady, for example, was already all booked up for next March, April and May by June this year and my florist is basically booked up for most weekends in 2013.
We still haven't sorted suits either. We've got as far as picking up some leaflets and then it has halted again! Doh.0 -
...to put it in perspective, though, a friend at work got married 5 weeks to the day after getting engaged. So it can be done in less time!0

Hi ladies, hope you all had a good weekend wedding planning and what not.
Updates for me are that I have my third (yes, THIRD!) pair of shoes. The reason they've changed is because of problems dress shopping. Yesterday I went to get my dress once and for all and fell in love with a gorgeous dress. My mum cried! I also have my tiara, veil, gorgeous jewellery, and now my lovely vintage style shoes.
We've been thinking about centrepieces and we are going to have a literary themed wedding which I am SO happy and excited about. We're going to have cut out hearts from old books, with tatty old books as centrepieces, with decanters (bought from QD!!!) with just a single flower or sprigs of lavender. The hotel also have tealights which I'm going to take advantage of!
I feel so much more organised now. I still have worries with money but I've started xmas shopping and poundland has been a saviour if I'm honest. My family understand pressies will be minimal this year.
Bit of advice needed though please ladies?
Bridesmaids - are yours paying for anything themselves? i.e. dresses, shoes, make up, hair..? I'm just trying to get a feel what the norm is!

thelittlestrange your centre pieces sound amazing
I'm paying for everything for my BM's. They are picking their shoes though and I'm giving them the money back. Hair and make up I'm treating them too and I've done them a goodie bag for the morning with bath products, dressing gown, mini bottle of wine and a personliased glass each and a little box of chocsFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0
