Hi April Brides/Grooms
My now fiancee :j and I are playing on getting married on 27th April! As the title of the post says its only 199 days away.
The Church is kind of sorted out my mum is a church warden so pretty much whatever day we'd like she will sort out for us.
Venue - we have found one we love but parents need to see it as they are paying and are a little undecided and have asked us to look at a few more luckily one of them is one we love the look of as well but thought would be too expensive.
So what should we have done by now?! Whats the most important? Any hints or tips would be great as we soo dont know where to start!
one question i do have is how did you pick your BM's?? I so far am having H2B's sister and would like a friend or 2 of mine but i am in a group of 8 girls and picking them all would be too much but picking only 1 or 2 would be friendship sucide! what to do?!
thanks in advance and happy planning! xx
Ooh exciting! Welcomeour '6 months to go' day was last Saturday, I was very excited
Erm, what should you have done by now...well...everyone has different lists I thinkwe got engaged in February and started planning straight away so we have most things organised...all the basics like church, reception, band, DJ, my dress, BM dresses, cars, photographer, honeymoon, Save The Dates sent out, invitations nearly ready to go, flowers...um...can't think what else but the only significant things left on our list are rings and men's suits (of course these are the things OH is responsible for, typical they'll be the last to get done! :rotfl:)
Technically if you have the church sorted then you have everything you need to get married - the rest will be extras and you can decide what you do and don't want
As for BMs, do you not have any female relatives (sisters, cousins etc) so you could say it's just family? If not, I'm not sure what would be best to do! Good luck!0 -

Don't panic, just do one thing at a time methodically. We're 23rd March and I still have tons to do.
As for BMs I had exactly the same dilemma, so in the end just have my sister and my cousin and didn't choose between friends because I just couldn't. Lots of them have little jobs though, e.g. one's doing a reading and another is sorting hen doOfficially Mrs B as of March 2013

Ppink i'm getting married on the 27th too
My Bm's are my best friend, SIL and one of OH's best girl friends
Going to my venue today at last (Urquhart Castle) to finalise a few bits with coordinator and caterers. It's taken so long to get this day sorted due to OH's work
We're meeting the Humanist minister this afternoon and I'm so nervous.
Finalised our cake yesterday and I can't wait to see it it's going to be really different and the woman making it has the most amazing skills for replicating tartan in icing so my cake is going to match my dressFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Hello! Another April bride joining you, we have booked April 12th! Though have had people say do you have enough time
We have been together over 7 years and have been engaged for 1 of those years, I have my ideas just need to make a decision (something I am not so good at!)
So far we have sorted venue and church, guest lists and I think *colours* wedding dress shopping will be 1/2 term as I am a teacher, so am praying I will find a dress first time.A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0 -
Haven't posted for a while so firstly a big HELLO to the new ladies , welcome to the April thread. I hope your stay here is smooth and trouble free
I can't really remember where I got to in my posting and timeline of events so apologise if some of this is old news.....
Have finished the wallets for day & evening guests and am very pleased, they look just how I imagined them. I just need to allocate some time to getting the inserts designed and printed up, hopefully a bit later this month. I then need to start working on a design for the evening only ones, I don't think I will send the evening ones out until the new year but I would like to the the actual ceremony ones out next month because I know people are trying to book annual leave etc!
My daughter and I started decorating my wedding post box the other day, I had bought some glittery and colourful organza butterflies and flowers on Ebay and she kinda got a little over excited with them :rotfl:. It might be a bit butterfly over-kill but at least she enjoyed herself. I have ordered a little plaque for it from my stationery lady and hopefully that will arrive within the next week or so, then we can finish it and wrap it up to keep it clean and dust free.
I did finish the sweet trees! I need to actually cement them into their little metal pots but the sweets are all on the trees and they look really good. Not hard to make at all but just a bit time consuming and fiddly. My mum said she wants to buy the two I have already made for xmas presents so at least I won't have them sitting around staring at me for ages. I am now 100% confident I can make a couple for the wedding without too much hassle. At least I can make them in advance too so it won't be too stressful....unlike the sweet cones which I will need to do the day before .
The tags for my treasure chest have arrived but I need to actually go and buy the chest, guess I should do it soon in case Hobbycraft sell out and then I get stuck completely.
Just realised I didn't say anything about my cakes! I met my cake lady last week, she is such a gem. For my actual wedding day I am having a 10" Maldives themed cake with palm trees, little tropical fish and sand etc. She is doing it in absolute favourite flavour of vanilla sponge with raspberry jam and coconut with buttercream and I just cannot wait! We only have a small party for the actual wedding so think that will work well as we will be jetting off that day! She is also doing my reception cakes and I am having a plain vanilla top cake and 48 cupcakes in a mix of white chocolate and raspberry, chocolate orange, double chocolate and a mystery flavour. She is decorating them with hot pink and orange icing flowers to match my tropical theme. I also went and picked up my custom topper on Wednesday, it's really great and I can't wait to see other halfs face, I thought it was a really good price too.
I had my dentist visit yesterday - the first one in about 15 years. The dentist was lovely and by some miracle, there is very little wrong with my teeth! I need a visit or two to the hygienist to get cleaned up but no fillings required - yay! I also spoke to him about the cosmetic work I want done and he was very honest with me. Once I have finished with the polishing I will see him for the whitening and then I can have my veneers, the total cost is just under £1,100 so am hoping my bonus will cover it, should know within a few weeks.
Ooh, I picked my brand new car last week too and i LOVE it, it's sooooooo nice. My old car had no gadgets at all and I have to keep using the built in bluetooth on my drive home so I bet I look like a right idiot. Am now on day 12 of Stoptober and not even had a puff, I am really proud of myself as I never even though I would get through day 1. Went cold turkey completely and have had a few weak moments but not too bad overall. The diet has been suspended in order for me to get through the giving up smoking part, I haven't weighed myself as I was worried about being depressed but am starting to get back to better eating habits so will weigh myself next week and come up with a plan to get my weight down.
So, after all that, I have NO wedding mojo at the moment, it's all vanished. I just can't be bothered with it all, maybe I need a few weeks off from planning as work is MEGA busy and I think I have too much going on in my head. Perhaps a weekend of rest will help?
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

Hi Ladies
Hope everyone is doing ok, jtr it sounds like you've got loads done!
So, after all that, I have NO wedding mojo at the moment, it's all vanished. I just can't be bothered with it all, maybe I need a few weeks off from planning as work is MEGA busy and I think I have too much going on in my head. Perhaps a weekend of rest will help?
I'm afraid this is me too at the moment, I just can't seem to get around to doing anything! Still a bit meh about my sister and the wretched BM dresses.
I went to a wedding show with my mum and sister a couple of weeks ago. After all the stress with my sister and the BM dress I thought it would be nice to try and include her... It was a nice day but my mum still felt the need to pressurise me about getting the dress sister prefers.
The thing is I actually do like the dress, probably about the same as the one we have bought already. I just don't want it to seem like I'm giving in.... /sigh. I told them both that we'd need to buy three new dresses as I'm not making my others BMs wear it the old one if they prefer the new one as well.
Mum seems happy to pay for three. I think she's mad, told her she should buy my sister her shoes instead. Sister will only have to wear the thing for a few hours! Arghhh families, what can you do eh?
I did start making my brooch bouquet, will post pics when I remember to take them! Same for my invites etc.
I think I need to start over, make new lists with what I've done and what is still to do. Our 6 months was yesterday, better pull my finger out!!!Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
Cant wait to see your pic of your brooch bouquet bet it will look gorgeous.
Are any of you worrying about it being cold or rain?A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0 -
We went and ordered our rings today
yay! Mine is very sparkly. Woo!
We aren't worried about the weather. We will keep an eye on it nearer the time and we will buy umbrellas if need be!0 -
Today we gave notice - and what a chore it was.
I had my passport but it was expired, so took my drivers license. The council website and the paperwork we received with our confirmation date of giving notice stated this was fine. After a LOT of messing and fiddling around, the registrar let us give notice! One stress over!
And we met with our venue today for a long old chat, it was great. We literally went through the whole day, start to finish.
I'm really really chuffed as it turns out our venue has bits and pieces we can use for centrepieces - we were worried about finding the money for all of these!! They have mirrors, tealights, table numbers and table number stands. I'm so happy as we were going to at least have mirrors and tealights so just have to add a little something to it now.
Also, there's a spa in the hotel that does make up. Just £40 for my trial and on the day - what a bargain!
Unfortunately I have some form of cold though and have lost my voice which I didn';t need today! So it's an early night for me and wedding planning starts again next week! You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me. ~ C.S. Lewis0 -

It's the UK, I always hope for the best and prepare for the worst :rotfl:
Last April was absolutely boiling if my memory serves me correctly, we were out in the garden at work sunbathing at lunch time! This year it was pretty miserable so it really could be anything. I might get some colourful umbrellas just in case so we can still have some 'outside' shots but as we are only using the registry office we aren't paying lots of money for gardens etc that we might not get to use so I am not too fussed.
Very happily married on 10th April 2013
