I have a major infestation of calories.

Aha I also have these in my wardrobe :) how do I go about getting rid of them ;)

I was growing a lovely tomato plant. I left ds2 whilst I was washing up, he was in the paddling pool. I went out less than 1 minute after leaving him and half of the paddling pool water was drowning my poor tomoato plant. It is now in the compost bin (aka tomato plant heaven) :( not impressed! Lettuce are doing well when I pick off the green fly ;)

I posted on *Robin*s post about some pots i bought from poundland which were painted a nice glossy cream and had a raised black rectangle which was blackboard paint which you can chalk the name of the seeds/plant. Really good idea i thought, maybe coupled with a nice dragonfly at the side, something you could add to your reportoire?

My excuse for not posting for a day or so? Haven't really got one:rotfl: Just doing the normal, coffee shop and gardening.

I have been doing a lot of thinking and reflecting, I may post more on that over the next few days.

It's a free listing weekend, although only one of my pots has sold I might look out a couple of other items to list. I'm in a clearing clutter mood! I've been sorting out five items a day for the rubbish or charity shop. There is a charity shop just opposite the coffee shop so I've been dropping items in there on my way to work. This week I've cleared about 30 items of stuff I don't need, like or understand :rotfl: I've done the decent thing and told DS1 that his stuff in the garage is under threat, he has a month to come and get it....

Washing is out on the line, lovely sight - shame it turns into ironing :(Colin is sitting under a tree with his admirer, I think it's a Birman, but whatever it is, it is very much in love with Colin :)

Off to do some gardening before it gets too hot.

I'd like to have a reason for a new diary, a new direction or positive change to mark the start of it. I'll think on it a while longer.

Now there's the problem, the pots cost £1. I can't do them for that amount it costs more than that to buy them and then there's the blackboard paint too. It is a very good idea though and one I'd like to do. I guess the answer is not to sell them outside £land.

  • Never try and compare what you do to what's sold in £land, it'll drive you crazy. Those £land pots have been mass produced in China by practically slave labour in terrible conditions (think of the fire that destroyed the clothing factory in Pakistan recently).

I'm a potter, and I have to believe that my pots are a completely different item, that people will see the value in for their variety and unique characteristics that can only come with that hand made (hand-finished in your case) touch.

People are becoming more and more aware of where their 'stuff' comes from, and those that can afford to will pay for something with provenance.

It's like comparing apples and oranges. Don't do it! :)

    ^^ what GB said!
It was more of an idea for you to incorporate than try and compete.

The pots are very poor quality and only about 4 inches. Different customer base I would say!

You know I could do the pots a pale blue with a blackboard square maybe with a little butterfly in the corner of the blackboard bit. If I did them in sets of three with chalks they might sell as presents....

I'm not sure that eb@y is the right outlet for the pots, when I get a chance I will look into Etsy and see if there are other sites that sell crafts. It's a shame, in more ways than one, that my daughter is so far away she could build me a site to display them.

I was reading another thread somewhere and it said that honey helped backache. Now I have had a backache for a week or so. Nothing to lose, I've taken a teaspoon of honey for the last two days and my backache has eased! Apparently backache can be a sign of an infection and honey is a natural antiseptic. It's supposed to be the manuka honey which luckily I had in the cupboard. I will be taking another spoonful today.

Yesterday I met DS2's girlfriend for the first time. She is lovely. I know he's been seeing her for a while, looks like he's serious ;) bringing her home to mum. I hope I wasn't too scary! Luckily I wasn't wearing mad gardening clothes or pjs when they arrived, had on a respectable sundress - phew!

Morning :) Glad the honey is working well for your backache. I think its definitely worth looking into Etsy or something similar and totally agree with everyone else that your pots are unique and not mass produced rubbish.

    What about something like notonthehighstreet.com??
