I have a heated airer, it was very efficient during the winter and I got everything dried. Very inexpensive too, although the initial outlay was a bit scary. It paid for itself in the savings on the electricity bill. L@keland sell them, although I'm sure you can get them elsewhere.

Thanks for the tip I'll look into one of those especially if it's cheaper to run as husbandpet actually made a point of saying how cheap our electric is now (not that he actually pays for the electric, I do :rotfl:).

The problem we have is space so if it's not too big then it seems like an option. At the moment the potential baby room (no not yet) is turning into a half laundry half spare room once all the cr*ps been ebayed. I did contemplate saving up for one of those washer / dryer combinations but I fear the backlash I'd have from you :o:p

Don't generally come on here at the weekend but I can't miss out on your big news.

It has to be said that today did not go according to plan. The intention was to pop down to town whilst it was cool, buy some new trousers [more about that in a minute] and then come home and do some housework and gardening.

Decided I wanted a cup of coffee and went into the coffee shop to get one, after-all I'm not going to pay if I can get one for free. To discover that hellcow's obnoxious daughter hadn't turned up for work. I was asked to cover, seeing as how the others were suffering with trying to keep on top of things I said I would. I did get a new pair of socks out of it. The rules state you must wear socks, I wasn't so was granted some from petty cash, that's how desperate they were!

Now here is the announcement which has some bearing on the above. I have a new job.....

I have been poached by a customer of the coffee shop and will start my new job on 6th August. I haven't handed in my notice yet as I only have to give a week's notice.

I have been thinking long and hard about things and I know that the gardening cannot carry on throughout the winter, the pots although selling well do not sell enough to live on. I need a full time job to carry me through.

The new job is one week days and one week evenings meaning I will be able to garden on the evening weeks. I will have to carry on with pots and gardening as much as possible as the new job, although a little better on the pay front, still will not quite cover my living expenses.

So here is where the thinking and realisations have kicked in. I cannot afford to live here anymore. I need to downsize. I don't want to but have to. If I can sell the house I can clear my debts and live at half the cost.

The problem is with the house, it is falling apart. It needs work done on it that I cannot afford. It is also full of stuff that a larger house has, but a smaller house cannot take.

This means I am going to have to do a major clearout/selling/donating exercise. I wish I had a partner to help, it is a daunting prospect on my own.

I will contact an estate agent to see what it is worth and what it would be worth if the problems were fixed.

I have already started eb@ying, see how serious I am, you know how I hate it! I would have done some today but ended up working, such is life! I can only list 99p items anyway, but I will do some tomorrow, maximum of three a day, you have to consider packing up and posting time in a busy day!

The smaller credit card has been paid off from the unexpected ppi windfall. The remainder of the money is going to sit there for unexpected stuff. I now have an extra £40 a month. I should be able to reduce my internet and phone bills still further and will look into this during the week.

The new job was why I was buying new trousers. I can't wear the jeans I currently wear for work but I can wear trainers and I have plenty of tops, so not too expensive.

I know there is a lot more I need to think about, but I only have one brain cell currently working and the whole thing is an on-going life project.

    Yes and probably yes!

There's only so much you can ask the offspring to do though. I think I will save them up for the actual move, that is a long way off though. It's all work in progress at the moment.
