    Evening all!

Another fantastic warm day here - makes everything seem so much better.

Well I did the deed today and told work I didn't want to apply for one of the posts they offered me. Managed to get a reasonable redundancy payment and am carrying on working until the end of May, then will get my 3 months notice period.

Piq - glad to hear you have managed to claim JSA! I look forward to many stories about your excursions to the job centre!

Hope you all had a good day.

    Noo

That gives you a fair amount of time and money Noo. I take it that you will get redundancy on top of the three months notice period? If you start looking now, you may be able to go from this job straight into a new one, leaving you with cash in the bank. I believe that you are entitled to reasonable time off for interviews, no need to hide the fact that you're looking and you can use their facilities at lunchtimes to search for a new role.

Good luck Noo, you will do well.

I'm off to the job centre tomorrow, so will let you know how I got on. Hopefully, no fights....

    Hi Piq

Really think you can post something here too..or PM one of of us.. And se what we think? I agree re the starkness of linked in sometimes...I have seen 3rd connections etc write in something like looking for work or even UNEMPLOYED and it looks desperate and off putting.

But setting up a new company and saying you are open to new opportunities etc seems sensible.

I am hardly the queen of EBay...jwil, ebay queen etc have that honour I think..but we are up £282 from EBay this month and £54 from Amazon..well thats a sack or two of pony nuts for captain if you'd like to think of it that way!!

Exactly my thoughts, it's the sounding desperate that worries me. I know that recruiters use the site a lot and I need to write it as a selling point, not as a give me a job, any job piece. You only get one chance on Linkedin and that is when your amended profile hits the updates.

Lady, take the kudos of having made me post two items on eBay. I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't been reading your diary. I have even got something out for posting tomorrow. It is with shame that I tell you that it is a pair of trousers I have never worn, the labels are still attached :o A decent make, yet somehow they have shrunk dramatically in the years they have spent at the back of the wardrobe...

    Morning :D

Glad you had a nice weekend of, shame about lack of attention on mothers day though. I felt very sad first mothers day in 17 years havent had a card from the hoss!!

Just a quick question, please tell me to sod off if being nosey, but just wondered how you have managed to survive without JSA all these months, is it savings? OH may be being made redundant and we have some savings but for kitchen extension and dont know whether we would be accepted for any help or if we have to use these? Thanks.

Good luck with your to do list, I must get of here and do my to do list for work ;)

Just dropping in to say - although you may be aware of this - if you have savings over £16000 you will receive no benefits. Under 16000 and your benefits will be paid on a sliding scale - not sure what the lower limits are. There is no point hiding that you have savings either  Also your income,if any, will be taken into consideration. Advice would be to use your money for the extension and if OH hasn't had formal notice of redundancy, and its only a rumour it might happen, get your mortgage payments insured

We have all been there..one of my sales was a Monsoon evening dress BNWT..gulp. But hopefully those days are well behind me!

Even got £3.99 for a little H&M sun dress the other day. Surprising what can go.

Have Pm'd you. Think the power of MSE can sort this little challenge of what to write and get the right pitch/set the correct tone.

Oh Teapot, there is no such thing as a belated hug! The hug is all wrapped round me right now, thank you! and you have very eloquently put exactly how I feel. I fight it all the time, I can't afford to go down. The hug and empathy have made me feel so much better.

I've had a go at writing a new profile for Linkedin, I'm not sure if it's the way I want to go. I'm going to have a look at something called oDesk first, apparently it's a good place to get writing work from. I'm not going to go live with anything tonight as I've had a couple of glasses of wine and that may cloud my judgement!

The Bear seems alright, his ear is a little tender, but it's not hot and he's still eating enough for an elephant. He's also stalked up and down the path with that swagger that cats have. He's scent marked everything in sight, including my car, which has it's own very strong aroma. You open the door and nearly pass out at the smell of horse. My family refuse to travel in it and insist on taking their own cars. :rotfl: Meaning that I get lifts to family events, saves money and I can have a drink! Absolute result!

You can call collect your hug whenever you need it Teapot.

Piq, that is so funny about your car - coz..... mine is the same! My husband refuses to be seen in her - she is called stinky. Unfortunately I just get to drive my husbands clean car on a night out!

I've been to the job cente, what a joy the place is...My appointment was at 9:00am. I rounded the corner at 8:55 I saw the queue of people smoking outside, just waiting to be let in and I knew I couldn't join that queue of sad humanity. So I stood outside M&S trying to look as if I was waiting for it to open, hoping I looked more like a M&S shopper than an unemployed person.

I saw a sign-on person, who told me off because I hadn't filled in the little book. I said that it had been agreed that my file was far more detailed and was quite acceptable way of monitoring what I had been doing. She actually tutted! How rude! I passed the file over, unfortunately, she was far too busy to look at it! She commented that I should be looking locally and wasn't trying hard enough, I smiled serenely and asked if she could show me how to do a local search for my type of work, and fancy that, not one job was found...

I then asked for their input on the housing benefit form as it requires a stamp and signature to be told they don't do that! Well who does then? It is a very painful experience.

Then it was time to visit the library which I thoroughly enjoyed even if they didn't have any magazines. I haven't been for so long that I was surprised it was fully automated and had to ask how to check out a book:)

Then I met man pet for a coffee and he treated me to some cod liver oil tablets and bubble bath, both were on buy one get one free :T
Now I'm here about to do some chase up emails and see what's going on in the world of new jobs.
