    hi Miss P

Headhunters are like estate agents: Mostly unctuous

However I will report that jobs at our level are rarely advertised and must be facilitated by one of these creatures (unless you have a friend already in situ in the company you wish to work for who can give you a leg up (horsey reference for you))

Just to echo Missrlr, try to find out which of them is the most reputable (a difficult task indeed) and only put your CV forward once per vacancy.

It's my wish that you were closer to London as I could most certainly help you in my company (large American type that currently had over 3k openings globally) Gainfully and highly regarded in full time employment am I, but useless with the cards so there you have it.

    Hello dearest Newleaf!

The recruiter phoned back and has sent my cv in to the end client! He hopes to get me an interview next week. I can and will keep my fingers crossed until then!

This role was only released on Monday, so I haven't applied for it, just several that sound similar. This one is more senior. I just hope they're as impressed with my experience as the recruiter is.

Excellent advice, as always, from you and missrir, about not putting cv in multiple times. I hadn't thought of it from the client's perspective.

Actually, I am near London, well within the commuter belt, so I could be tempted to join you for coffee!

    Hi Piq,
Just be sure you know which recruiter contacted you first and confirmed you had been put forward. As a recruiter there is nothing more annoying than having the same CV three times and having to work back to figure out which one was first then make sure you tell the others to stop arguments down the line.
If there are loads of job ads for the same position then they are desperate and hate all recruitment companies so they have chucked it at all of them.
Best of luck and woof bark from the Puplet here to encourage them to make their minds up!

I hope the woof bark turns my luck! That would be so nice.

As in previous post to Newleaf, I am taking your advice regarding the multiple applications. Thank you for taking the time to help, sometimes desperation clouds my judgement.

Have a lovely weekend away, it is this weekend you're away, isn't it? Eat and drink plenty and above all relax....that's an order!

fingers crossed about the job Piq, both of the jobs really.
don't worry about the phone ringing as they're probably so overawed at the fact that you'd be perfect for the role that they're still trying to come to terms with it and picking themselves up off t'floor.

I do hope so, lovely LT!

How has your day been, I do hope things are a little less stressful for you and you get a chance to relax at some point.

I get side-tracked on the diary sometimes and forget that it's there to keep me on track. On the other hand, working is key to debt busting. Not having an income coming in means I can't throw anything at the cards, but I still try to make sure it's above the minimum. This week I threw £60 at them. Not forgetting that I got the interest rate reduced to 9.9% from around 23% for asking to close the card. It will still be closed once the rate reverts. In an ideal world I'd be working by then and could pay it off entirely...

Yesterday I opened a co-op bank account, just in case. I didn't have any problems being accepted. I also sent off my mortgage protection claim, I have yet to do the housing benefit claim for the JSA, it's nearly there, just need to find a missing figure. That will go off today.

I have to write to a friend and tell here I can't go to her wedding. No matter how I jiggle the figures I cannot afford to get there. I'm not looking forward to writing it. I really would love to go but it's over in Ireland. I have so little money left it's not possible.

The car is taxed for six months and the vet bill is paid. The Bear has recovered with my nursing and didn't need the vet. I used the Captain's antiseptic on his ear and all seems well. Very good news for the Bear, even if he does fancy the vet!

Everything is still crossed for an interview next week and perhaps I'll hear something back from the County Council job, it didn't have a closing date on the ad, so I don't know when I should give up on it. DS3 knows someone who works there and is going to ask her if she can help bring my application to the attention of the right person. It's very much an off chance, but not to be sneered at.

The sun is shining and I will take the Captain out later, once I've done my weekly shop and picked up my tablets from the doctors.

Who would like a Captain story, I have a couple I've drafted up for the book. Any takers?
