So poor I can't even pay attention

Good morning all!
As the title says I'm having the day off looking for work, I don't think much will have been posted and there won't be anyone around to read [ignore] my application.
Heavy rain is forecast so I'd like to get a bit of weeding done before heading off to the yard. One of the beauties of riding is not having to change between gardening and riding clothes, both sets are comfortable and dirty
After which I'm off to the yard. The Captain and I have a lesson booked, so I will be the colour of a plum tomato. He likes lessons, the more complicated the better, meaning I have to rein in and control half a ton of energy or spend 45 minutes mindlessly careering round with the odd motorcycle lean thrown in for good measure
Mustn't forget the man pet is coming round for dinner tonight. I am making a smoked mackerel pate with homemade melba toast, I haven't done melba toast before, so there is a chance it will be pate with crumbsThen cauliflower cheese with chilli flatbread and buttered carrots. He's bringing the wine. Followed by watching the television.
Catch up later.

hope the lesson went well. you certainly deserve a day off from job hunting, as you say there's not likely to be anyone there to answer or deal with it.
hope you enjoy the 'television' tonight and Man Pet enjoys the food.0 -
All I can say to crafting with cat hair is 'well I never...' not sure if it's a great idea or a weird idea :rotfl:
Piq
The whole idea made me laugh - I think its quite weird. Though I did used to tell Mr A that I was collecting enough fur off him to knit another cat; not sure he believed me!
You sound like you had a chilled day planned so hope you enjoyed it and had a good evening - food sounds yummy too0 -
nice one on getting a day off. I could do with one of those too. In fact I could do with a week off from everything
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

I took the day off from job hunting, in fact, I took today off too. I'll be back on the case bright and early tomorrow morning. I have had a look at the Employment board, it's very different to the DFW board, I would think very carefully before posting there. Some of the folk are very blunt.
The Captain and I had our lesson, I'm not sure who was sweating most, I think he was, but only just! There was a point when I was gasping for breath, it was such hard work, I'm certainly not as fit as I ought to be. That was two days on the trot that I got a good workout. At this rate I'll be floating away like a feather I'll be so light - and that's as likely as me winning the lottery...
Man pet worked 16 hour shift yesterday so we didn't get together as he was understandably very tired. I watched Cirque de Soleil instead. Once I am debt free I am going to save up and go and see it live, it was amazing.
It's Mother's day, I got one card, three texts and two dead mice. So feeling a bit neglected, but the glass of wine is helping!

You don't need to read this post, it is for me and very boring!
I must write down everything I must do today, there is a lot and because I've taken it easy all weekend my mind is not in gear at all.
Today I must without exception do the following:- Read and set up file for job centre papers
- check that tomorrow at 9:00am is sign-on day and get together evidence of job applications
- pay car tax for six months - I do not want the money coming out of next month!
- phone NW about closing card so I don't have to pay hiked interest charges
- do my finances, not difficult as I didn't spend over the weekend
- start mortgage payment insurance claim as paperwork is now in
- pay vet bill

OH may be being made redundant and we have some savings but for kitchen extension and dont know whether we would be accepted for any help or if we have to use these? Thanks.

Morning everyone - (hellooo and welcome to Nicola)
I too was in South Africa at the time of voting for the referendum and the release of Nelson Mandela so can understand a lot about that. However to have lost so many so close must be awful - I have lost grandparents and my father and that was truly awful. I know nothing I can say will comfort you but in terms of getting back on your feet financially and for some 'chatting' and moral support this place is great. (big hugs to you).
I have a confession to make - I am off on a holiday next week - paid for by OH mum - she is coming too so I have been madly trying to get everything organised (dogs, chickens and horses plus kids and parent who are also coming on hols) and trying to not spend too much. My overpayments have therefore gone out the window and I feel very guilty but when I am back I am going to crack on with the debt busting.
I have vet coming out to old chap this afternoon as he is still lame and I am just not happy with having a lame horse for 3 weeks without a proper explanation. Physio thinks he is slightly better so we will see. Mare 2 is as good as new although every now and again looks a bit 'short' on that leg, Mare 1 - super hack on her yesterday and even jumped a few logs.
Piq - hope your week is a good un for you and something good happens on the job front for you. x
Kisses for Captain from the girls as usual (just ignore old chap glaring in the corner!)0 -

Hugs to you BB, the Captain didn't send me a card either, but there again, he can't write and can't get past the carrot display in the supermarket!
I wouldn't dream of telling you to sod off! I haven't claimed because of how I feel about being unemployed. I still feel deeply ashamed. I know I shouldn't but I do. I still have friends who I haven't told about my circumstances, that's how bad it is. I have lived off my redundancy and rarely buy anything, the house is falling apart and so am I. Most nights I lie awake worrying, consequently, I can't focus when I get up because I am so tired. I worry because I am running out of money, I worry because I am getting left behind in the skill set required, I worry because I hate doing that sort of work anyway and I worry because even if I was brilliant I am past my sell by date as far as employers are concerned.
I'll wager you wish you hadn't asked now!Sorry.
Very few people realise I feel like this as I am a sunny soul and am taken as I appear. So I march on as best as I can, but it is so difficult.
I read the Employment board and would like to join in or ask questions, but to be honest, there are people on there that are not nice, downright horrible to be truthful. Yesterday a few threads got removed, where the OP is verbally attacked or someone just jumps in with random rantings about another poster - not for me, I'm afraid.

Don't feel guilty Lam, just enjoy the break, you've got the chance - take it! That's an order....
I'm glad mare 2 is on the mend, the Captain sends her a get well kiss and another kiss just because he can!
