Hello Teapot  Lovely to see you!
A vomit diary....nice....Poor, poor tall cat. I hope he feels better soon and it just hair balls, yuk! Grooming the Bear is always exciting as he attacks the brush with teeth and claws, he's only a short hair, so not too bad, once he's got over the wrestling stage and the brush has admitted defeat!
    Piq

Goodness lots happening in the diary - whizzing along nicely. Think tall cat is a bit better as he's not been sick for a few days so fingers crossed. I recognise the grooming battle except Mr A doesn't get past the wrestling stage and I'm the one who admits defeat due to the pain and scratches. He is fine with having his head groomed but hates me going anywhere near his beam end or tail. Am afraid he has some small fur matts round there as he just won't let me brush him. I try every day and he is better with it than when we got him 10 months ago but its an uphill struggle.

I do get brushfuls of fur even though I can't do as much as I'd like and if I was a crafting person I might have to invest in this; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crafting-Cat-Hair-Cute-Handicrafts/dp/1594745250/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331917222&sr=8-1 :rotfl:

Your Bear story re the carpets reminded me of Sam who was an earlier cat we took in. The bedroom door opens out onto the landing which is the only carpeted area. She howked the carpet up trying to get in for a snog. I had to start taking the mobile phone in with me at night in case I had to phone someone to come to the rescue if the door wouldn't open .

I agree re library for mags, I used to go and read them there though I was meant to be looking in the paper for jobs! 'Psychologies' is another magazine you might consider, they seem less celebrity orientated.

Your son's cake sounds yummy, could do with a piece myself but will have to make do with a mint kitkat :D.

Good of the The Captain to exercise you - he is a tease :rotfl:

    Waving to Teapot:wave:

As Lemon Tree says 'aren't cats wonderful...' They certainly live their lives and run ours on their terms, absolutely no compromise.

All I can say to crafting with cat hair is 'well I never...' not sure if it's a great idea or a weird idea :rotfl:

I'm off to the library next week, just got to get a baby-sitter for the Captain, shouldn't be too hard, he has quite a fan club.

Quote - I had to start taking the mobile phone in with me at night in case I had to phone someone to come to the rescue if the door wouldn't open . That is so funny, I think my family would leave me stuck in the room....

Oh I'm going to like you Cheery!

I can imagine oil goes a long way and takes just as long, if not longer to clear up. I'll wager the cleaner was thrilled :rotfl:I've noticed some lovely set splatters of chocolate up the kitchen cupboards this morning, missed them in the artificial light last night. Lovely...time to crawl around the floor scraping off chocolate that can't be eaten, surely there's some sort of law about that...

At least I didn't have the red face, even though it's an accident I always feel horrendously guilty if something similar happens to me. I get the same feeling if there's a queue behind me at the checkout. Why?

    Piq

Very pleased to 'meet' such a positive (like minded) person such as yourself (oh and Captain .... what I would give for a long 'hack' again ... must add this to my 'wish list'). Yep, I fumble and stumble behind a queue in the supermarket too, some kind of guilt and I really don't know why? However, for the worst ever, try dropping an entire box of eggs on the back seat of your car ... every single one smashed ... neither I or the car ever recovered.
Have the glass of wine in my hand and wait for more stories. This is really good stuff (your post, not the wine ... well a bit of both I guess). Oh yes, and its Friday.

    Well hello to you!!!

I think it would be fair to say I'm positive most of the time. I get times, same as anyone else, that it seems unfair or too much. I was taught as a child that you get out of life what you put in and you can't have something for nothing. I appear to have been brainwashed.....am I too old for childline?

I haven't done the eggs in the car thing, I always carefully balance them on top of the shopping, to watch as in slow motion they hit the ground in the car-park!
I didn't have a NSD today, ended up having to buy milk, the queues were horrible, so I did the self service till - Why do I have to pay the same as on the manned checkout, surely as I'm DIY there should be a discount - I had that uncomfortable feeling about the queue behind, I was trying to find where to put the money and decide whether a handbag was the same as supplying my own bags, if so why wouldn't it let me put it in the bagging area - and so on....

There are loads of stories, what one do you want? How about you tell a bit about you too!

It's good to meet you, pop on by whenever you're bored and fancy a little animal madness!

    Piq

ps I've got a glass of wine too, man pet left it behind, saying we'll finish it over the weekend. It seems to be evaporating rapidly, that's the problem with wine once it's opened!

You sound wonderful! I definitely sympathise with that wine, when you get to the bottom of the bottle it just stops ... complete rip off I would say (in my strange, distorted/English/South African/Portuguese accent). Well here I am, back in the UK after a 5 year awful sojourn/marriage in Mozambique. More about that another time as I am feeling good tonight and would hate to spoil my mood. Still can't get around my stupidity sometimes. I had no right to subject my only child (I was widowed when she was not even two) to that life. Can't tell you how happy I am to be home albeit broke and I mean broke. I am a dreadful worrier but with a (far too often) devil may care attitude I manage to be happy. I am so jealous about Captain (who I know and love already ha ha). Of all the things in my past life which seems so very far away I miss, (apart from my 'real' husband,my mother and my little sister and her unborn baby who were all killed in a car accident) is my horses. Gosh, that I really don't seem to have said that right .... I truly would cut off each of my limbs to have any one on them back. I mean that. Oh and I was brought up in South Africa from the age of 16,witnessed all the wonderful changes, the release of Nelson Mandela (who is awesome and whom I have actually met ... my only claim to fame) AND (be impressed all of you) I taught both his step grandsons when in Mozambique. Lovely boys and a truly amazing family. Oh dear have to go, get a bit weepy when I think about how awful those losses were (not the horses). I will be back.

Nicola, what an tragic and amazing life you have lived. I am so sorry to hear of your family losses, I can only imagine how heartbreaking it has been for you.

To have met someone like Nelson Mandela, a man who the world stands in awe of, wow! And to have lived in the heart of the changes South Africa has gone through, you could write a book.

Horses get into your heart and never move out. It may be to do with how honest they are and how they can read a human from a distance. I don't know what it is exactly about them, but I know I'm not alone in feeling this way.

    Take care Nicola.

Thank you Piquant, had a quick weep and now I should really go to bed. Horses and cats, amazing animals. I met my first cat in Mozambique who was (quite literally) being kicked around by the local children. She was not even two weeks old and we were 'stuck' with her, nothing else to do! I couldn't find the Mother cat which was not such a bad thing really. We took her away, found a vet for advice (which was not easy in that country, believe me). To cut it all short, what a cat she turned out to be!! What a character ... a right b.tch. I adored her. Unfortunately when I left (or rather fled), I had no choice but to find her another home or would have had to take the alternative measure. Anyway found her the greatest family and being my Lucy Cat, she has succeeded in taking over her new family, bossing everyone around and having her own way. I do miss her so bad. I get regular updates and photos. Saving like mad to visit her in December (which I guess is quite pathetic) but there you go.
You sound, like me, a cheery survivor .... sincere good luck in your job hunt ... its pretty soul destroying looking for a job, I don't envy you. I used to be quite a career lady but lost the plot after My daughter was born and my husband died. Maybe that isn't a bad thing in retrospect. Good night all, that bottle of wine has just sifted away (I do believe we have alcohol loving mice in this house). Will call Pest Control.
