Hope you've had a good day today dearest Piq. So sorry to hear you are missing Captain but glad to hear he's happy. It will pass honey as at the moment you are grieving, just remember you have shown the dear old chap the kindest love you can by finding him a safe happy home even though its made you sad

^^^ What Granny said! :) I think it's a brilliant idea to paint up lots of pots ready for seedlings to go into - looking forward to seeing piccies! :D

Thanks granny and robin. I know it's a grief thing. I miss him a lot. He is happy and I have to get on to get him back nearer home.

With that in mind I pulled myself together and decided to put the potting bench together. Very soon I realised I couldn't manage single handed, so I did the loving mother thing and called DS2 :whistle:Somehow managed to slip into the conversation about the difficulties I was having and he offered to come round to help :D His motorbike is having some sort of boy thing done to it, so I went to collect him.

He told me I was being ridiculous using some very old wood preservative on it circa 1990 :o that it would no longer be effective and insisted we went to a diy store where he bought me some forget-me-not blue preservative. It is the most wonderful colour! I've already painted the underside of the bench and it looks incredible. The potting bench will be a feature in it's own right :T

Said son also announced that when his tax rebate comes through he is going to replace my outside fence as it is currently tied to a tree to hold it up :rotfl:He will also round up the other sons to help put it up. I have to make chocolate cake in payment :D I'm sure the other boys will be thrilled.....

He also said my painted pots would sell for a fair amount of money. He is going to talk to friend who has a market stall in Spitalfields on a Sunday to see if he would take a few for a trial selling run for me. This means I need to paint up a few more pots! I've washed five this morning inbetween painting a bench, making bread, putting a sweet potato chilli in the slow cooker and putting a second coat on another pot already on the go.

The problem I have with painting more than one pot at a time is space. I'm using an area in the garage, but cold, but I forget about it when I'm working. The current three I'm working on are black with probably a pale blue iridescent butterfly or daisy, not sure which yet.

A whole load more seeds sown. I must track down a cold frame! Colin has found a sunny spot out of the wind and cold in the garden and is sunbathing. Shame it's just where the delphiniums are coming up....

Our herd has increased by two newborns today, One a perfectly white male calf, who looks perfectly cuddleable, the other a beautiful Simmental heifer, whom hubby has already earmarked as a future cow !! Hoping for a peaceful night, no births imminent ! Happy Easter Everyone x:easter_ba

Congratulations!! Irresistibly cute I'm sure. So, the piquant menageries grows larger!

I do look very silly in it and surprised the DH even bought me one, however, it does make one of my cats, Mallory, sit on my lap more as he thinks it's a lovely cosy place so I 'have' to wear it so the cat stays warm.....

Your gardening idea sounds fantastic, I love being out in the garden even if it's cold. I make up the flask, pick up my enamel gardening mug (love enamel mugs) and head of to the dizzy heights of the garden.......ok, actually only about 12 foot away from the back door. I can be known to spend hours pottering and have been caught by the family a few times even wearing the onesie out there!

So, the onsie isn't just for the house then? :rotfl:It's now in the garden, you're just a step away from popping out to the local shop you know:rotfl:

Are you sure you don't live next door? Everytime it snows at yours, it snows at mine. :rotfl:

Seems to be in a cycle, at the moment. Beautiful sunny mornings, with snow flurries in the afternoon and snowing, come teatime. :o

The snow has gone now, hopefully it stays gone. Very cold wind though, it's quite pleasant out of the wind, if you can find a spot that is.

There will be photos - promise, I need a sunny day and the potting bench painted first I think. There won't be any plants for the pots yet, most are still just seedlings or thinking about sprouting.

Poor doglet, hope he's feeling better.

Love the sound of the colour of the preservative ! Your sons sound lovely. Please can I borrow them for a few weeks in the summer ?

The herd continues to grow, a set of twin calves this morning, bringing the 2013 total to 15 calves so far & 30 pregnant mummies still standing looking expectant ! Sleepless nights tho, the cows still have the instinct to calve in the dark while the wolves are asleep !

Good luck with the pot selling, tis the perfect time of year to be doing it :j

    Hi Piq
Sounds exciting in the Piq Nursery. I'm so pleased you have assembled the potting bench and preserved it in a delightful colour. The pots sound terrific and what a wonderful contact to have at Spitalfields. Colin will have sorted out the best spot in the garden and will make it his own if it is a suntrap. Shame about the plants underneath his vast body - but it will keep them warm I suppose!

Great news as well about the new fence in the future. Chocolate cake payment sounds brilliant to me! Back to the bartering system. Could preserve it in forget-me-not blue?

Nothing seems to be happening much with my seeds - I've obviously got to spend more time talking to them and encouraging them. Much better than housework!
