...and yesterday I made a gecko! I plan to have him climbing up a large pot in the garden. I covered a paper mache gecko with decoupage, it took ages and I loved every minute of it, sad, I know. He is green with a red stripe down his back. Naturally I then used my iridescent paint so he shimmers.

    I want one. Purleeese? :p

  • Lovely to hear plans are continuing to grow and well done on the £50. You deserve it.

I really needed you on Friday night. Honest, I did. I'd been invited to a dinner party with friends. I'd asked if I could contribute somthing but was told to 'just bring myself'. However, I did want to take something.

Since the host and his partner are currently on a strict no sodium kick / less calories diet, that immediately cut out the usual suspects of chocolate and other goodies. However, they're keen cooks and I thought - "wouldn't it be great to be able to take around a couple of pretty little pots with herb seedlings in them". Unfortunately, no Piq near me, so I just "brought myself". But not before checking every supermarket and shop between the station and their house that even remotely looked like a suitable gift (nothing did).

Luckily, the nightmare scenario didn't happen - its the 50th birthday of one of the guests this Tuesday and I was terrified I'd rock up and find out the dinner was actually a quiet birthday party, complete with gifts and cards and I'd be there empty handed like a numpty. In my defence, whilst I knew that the birthday was approaching I only found out the actual date when I asked upon arrival (before she arrived). I have my card at the ready for tomorrow.

    Take care.

Wow, well done on the £50! :T

The gecko sounds lovely. Maybe you could make a couple more, and see if they sell on the craft stall if you go ahead with that. If they take ages, price them accordingly, and make sure you label them as handmade. No point making them for other people unless they will actually make a profit, no matter how nice they are (or as gifts - I would be delighted if someone made me an iridescent gecko!). :)

    Morning one and all

I was going to post yesterday afternoon but on the way home from work started to get the early warning signs of a migraine. I get the flickering and growing black hole effect in my left eye and if I don't catch it in time the migraine. Luckily I got it in time but it left me feeling tired and fragile. I also don't think it's a good idea to be using a computer if a migraine is hovering about.

Not sure what bought it on, I was shouted at by the new team leader. I've decided that you get promoted on decibel ability combined with no people skills whatsoever at Pre£t :rotfl:The reason for being shouted at? I didn't hear the toaster bleeping  I was serving a customer !!

I seem to have quite a few pots on the go, very few of them actually finished :o I will have a varnishing session at the weekend [think I'll ask my dad if he has any varnish hanging about :D]

If you want a herb pot JustAboutThere drop me a pm. I've just done a little yellow pot with a chicken on, I like it so much that several more chicken pots are on their way :rotfl:

ani you can have a gecko, I plan on several more. Today I want to track down something for their eyes, I was thinking of some sort of sparkling red jewel type thing.

Sunday I painted my little picket fence in the front garden using the blue preservative left over from the potting bench. It looks very nice. A dark red rose, lavender and white daisies will grow through it in the summer. On a sort of shelf behind it I have my herbs in troughs, so the purple of the sage and chive flowers all blend in. On a summer's evening it smells divine. I have a small wrought iron seat out there where I can sit with a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine :D My front garden is very secluded. Just remembered, I always had to fight the Bear for the seat and that it could do with a lick of paint.....

Today's plans include some housework :( the fireplace is very dusty and I must throw away the folding candles. I did think about making new ones from the old. But I've enough craft stuff on the go I think!

The potting up of some seedlings, still too cold for them to go outside even though they're hardy annuals, night scented stocks. I'll have to do the 'put them outside in the day, bring them in at bedtime palaver :('

A visit to my parents, and some bread making are also on the agenda. Must do a couple of job applications too.

Can't believe your boss shouted at your for that, what an eejit. Them I mean, not you :)
If you're doing pots and geckos to sell, are thinking of selling them in a postable state? I mean I'd like to buy some off you if they can be posted but I live in Belfast so it's a bit far for me to travel to pick them up :)

I'm fed up of THE palaver. I put all the azaleas outside, yesterday, for a breath of fresh air, including the non hardy ones. Left them out all night, (dirty stopouts.) Seem to have survived despite it being -3 this morning? :D

    What about these:

The red ones look cute, and there's a choice of sizes. :)
