Mmm, your baking does sound lovely, very comforting in cold weather. My slow cooker is on, with a beef stew made entirely of YS stuff.
Quick update on my little stallion in training: was very well behaved indeed for the first week: kind trainer was sitting on him on the fifth day (we had done lots with him from the ground, so he wasn't entirely green). Second week, some bad behaviour out on short hacks, including standing on his back legs and having a shout when he got back to the yard - oops. Third week, still doing very well under saddle, but when turned out managed to jump a 5 bar gate (he's only just 14.2!!) to try and reach an elderly (and very surprised) mare, but luckily there was still one field between them, and he was retrieved before anything happened .... he is now back to butter-wouldn't-melt. Trainer still thinks he's lovely!
My only cat (The Striped Person) is very purry and still a bit clingy without the late catto. And I have just seen a hedgehog in the garden, along with the usual slug-fest, which I hope it might eat. That's it chez cake, warm thoughts to all of you.

DS3 came round with pizza and left with the hobnobs and three quarters of the banana bread! Fair exchange I suppose....

It was so decadent having take away pizza, can't remember the last time, luckily there was still wine in the box that Dad had bought back from France and there's pizza left for lunch tomorrow!

Brizzle, it's not the same bottle of Marsala.....what sort of woman do you think I am?? Hope the cat hasn't got worms and doesn't cost too much, animals are not good on a budget.

Cake, you have made me snigger at the picture of the elderly and surprised mare. I bet she gave a little wiggle in your boy's direction though! I'm glad the training is going well the two of you will out and about very soon now. If he's anything like the Captain he'll be trying to munch his way around any hacking routes. I'm glad the Striped One is well and still purring.

Ah.. I wasn't making myself clear!, I was just delighted that even on your strict budget it includes marsala...I agree it's an essential. Now I know what to get you for Xmas! :-)

Relaxing in front of the fire with an unfortunately unheated blanket...there are times when winter isn't so bad

Lovely Colin most probably remembers when he was living rough, and wants to make the most of every meal. Perhaps he remembers living at the shelter, and eating in company can make a cat very nervous that its food will be stolen. Or he's like my marmalade boy and just loves eating!

Half day tomorrow for a hospital check up in the afternoon, which means I miss out on overtime for what is usually a late finish, AND have the cost of the diesel to hospital, and either car-parking, or the park-and-ride shuttle. Feeling a bit rattled so hot chocolate, hot water bottles, and the gingerkits and I are off to bed.
