I got carried away blackberrying and have picked enough to make a few jars of jam for Christmas presents. I am going to make jars of cranberry and white chocolate cookie mixes for presents too. They will look lovely all stripey and tied with ribbon and a label with the recipe printed on it. I shall use golden castor sugar to add colour. I thought I might do some triple chocolate chip jars too. I am being given a bag of pears so will make some pear chutney for gifts as well. Hopefully, this will solve most of my Christmas dilemmas.
Oooh wouldnt mind those recipes Piq - hint hint;)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

My old horse has to have heart bars and they (well a full set) are £75 so I understand how you feel. I would love him to go barefoot but just cant give him the proper care at the moment for the transition and scared of the risk what with the almost pedal bone rotation in the front feet!
Your baking / cooking talk always makes me hungry - I love sweet potato - I am also going to try it on top of shepherds pie.
have a nice weekend and keep warm.0 -
front shoes only and he didn't actually have a new set for over 2 years (didn't go any where and was only for flat footed ness and other related issues) but still a trim and replace was £40 a throw.
Horses, the equivalent of another mortgage - would love another but know I do not have the money or the time and I am NOT paying someone else to ride a beastie that is mine!Start info Dec11

Yes, you read it right - £70  That's one of the many expenses horses rack up for you.
Indeed, and the crazy thing is that nothing, ever, would induce me to pay £70 for shoes for myself, let alone every six weeks (though the offspring clubbed together to get Dubarry boots for my birthday a few years ago, and they are truly my favourite footwear ever). Nor would I pay three figures for a coat for myself but we're lucky that the mares aren't vandals, and the excellent rugs bought years ago, in that other life when I could afford them, have lasted brilliantly well.
Another thumbs-up for Zooplus, going through Quidco or TopCashBack, though I think DD now gets her kitties' food from Amazon. I've converted the gingers from Felix pouches to Classic (by Butchers) tins, HE eats everything and wants more, SHE is full after three mouthfuls. They have senior dry food down at all times, but both prefer the kittens' Royal Canin that DD buys.
I had a short week, missing yesterday's usual late finish, with overtime, to go to hospital for the annual check-up. And although I expected a mammo they had to reschedule it for December as short staffed and too long to wait. Almost all my holiday entitlement this year has been taken as half days for medical appointments, vet visits or farrier. I really do need a week off to knuckle down to the jobs I just don't get around to on my precious Saturday off. If only there were twice as many hours in a day, or at least, on a day off!
Jolly cold tonight, should be milder tomorrow for anyone going out to firework displays. Our nearest one is two villages away but we can see it across the fields, and it's far enough not to worry the animals too much, though they'll all be shut in anyway.0 -
Zooplus are great on prices and delivery but am sorry to say I'm in battle at the moment with their customer services who are quite frankly atrocious.I won't bore you're thread with it as just posted the story on mine ...please be aware..it is very frustrating being ignored.
It's a pity as I buy a lot of stuff every month from them but this has now put me off0
