So poor I can't even pay attention

The weather is miserable. I have brought a cup of coffee back to bed and will consider getting up in a while.
I have a fair bit to update on.
Firstly, the Captain got his new shoes. He was as always a very good boy for the farrier. His shoes cost £65 :j saving me £5 as the farrier put the same shoes back on, no wear and tear meaning the Captain only had to have his feet trimmed. Only £5 but money now in my purse.
However, I had to spend £29 on Colin He has an ear infection and an allergic reaction to flea bites.
I'd noticed lots of little scabs around his neck and ears, then he started the head shaking thing and wouldn't let me near his ears. I couldn't get an appointment at my normal vet so called one that a friend uses for her dog. The result being both of us get £10 off our bill :j
We saw a very droll South African vet who after various rubbings and shakings of Colin [who was almost orgasmic with pleasure] declared he didn't have a single flea, but the fleas bite and die and Colin is allergic, hence the scabs, nothing can be done, he'll always be like it. The ear mites he has a potion for. The vet inspected Colin's ears with a thingy, showed me the manky ear wax on the end, Colin leaned over and ate the ear wax :o At which point the vet commented that Colin was a cat who had landed bum first in the butter with his owner and was in excellent condition, obviously loved and it was a shame Colin had eaten all the butter....
Colin is fat. There is going to be a massive saving on cat food. 50% a week, in fact. I did think he was looking a little chunkyThe vet says no damage done, he's a young cat but he can't continue to eat such large amounts of food. So my chunky boy is going to become a svelte panther of a cat...
I went on the work night out last night. I had cried off, I really couldn't afford it, either petrol or taxi wise. The meal itself was paid for by the company as a reward for the shop having done so well. I explained my money situation to my boss and I thought that was that. Several people said that it was a shame I wasn't going and they were really disappointed. I thought that was just them saying the right thing. But it wasn't. They all went to see the manager, with the result that I was given £30 cash for a taxi to get there and back. Very emotional about this, I am surprised that colleagues like me so much and that they were determined I was going one way or another.
I had a lovely time, plenty of wine, nice meal and good company. I left when the younger members went clubbing, not my thing at all and I'm sure I would have cramped their style!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Oooh wouldnt mind those recipes Piq - hint hint;)
Recipes will be posted once I've worked out the quantities for the jars. I'll post pictures too.12.70 is amazing! How are you feeling?
I'm fine thank you, but not enjoying the weather. Soon I'm going to have to get out of bed to go and sort out the Captain. Indoor schooling for us today!I wouldnt recipe for your jar ideas too please
My old horse has to have heart bars and they (well a full set) are £75 so I understand how you feel. I would love him to go barefoot but just cant give him the proper care at the moment for the transition and scared of the risk what with the almost pedal bone rotation in the front feet!
I have toyed with the idea of barefoot, but I don't think it's for us yet. Maybe once we've done with hacking, nearer his retirement perhaps.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Just spent £70 on dog at vets and he didn't even see the vet ....... mostly coz lovely vet knows him and did a non chargeable telephone diagnosis for me
That's a lot too! Still, it would have been more with the consultation in person.
I've gone to another vet now, see marathon post! I was sort of pleased I couldn't get in my usual vet. I've always had a feeling that something happened when the Bear had his teeth removed. He was never the same afterwards and went downhill into old age far too rapidly. I try not to analyse it as it will make me feel responsible. But I don't trust them anymore. So Colin is going elsewhere.Hello, what is the recycling factory you send your print cartridges too, have quite a lot and if worth a few pennies may be worth doing? Thanks
It's a site; therecyclingfactor.com I've not used it before, but £4.10 is potentially money I wouldn't normally have had!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

It was one of those moments when you can't believe that people are so genuinely kind. Sometimes you get cynical about people and life and then you are stunned and touched by kindness.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
