    Darling Piq,

I am so so sorry to hear of your loss. I wish there was something I could do to make you feel better, even just a tiny bit.

You are amazing, so totally unselfish , kind, lovely, I could go on and on. Bear was so lucky to have you.

I wish there was something more I could say that would help, I feel so useless.

    Take Care, lotsa love

Thank you, what a lot of you there are! I seem to be like an ever-flowing fountain at the moment and I've had to gather myself before logging in.

I am touched beyond belief at your messages of love and support, thank you again.

I am very sure that the Bear would be pleased too, he'd probably catch each and everyone one of you a mouse. The very special among you might get a live chicken, a mole or a magpie. I think the wildlife is resting a little easier now. Especially the mice as the Bear was on a genocide mission...

The Bear will be coming home next week. I have had him cremated. I am going to put him to rest in the herb garden that he snoozed in so much. I thought I'd plant a lavender bush next to his chair, the chair that actually used to be my chair until he purloined it. I'm going to paint his name on a large pebble and put him, the bush and the stone in the sunshine.

Now is the hardest time, I miss his company so much and find myself looking for him all the time. I know he'll be successfully hunting chickens in cat heaven, obviously that's not chicken heaven! eating cream cheese for every hourly meal and snoozing with his tail in the oregano.

  • Piq - I'm so sorry for your sad loss and I hope that your healing will begin now as you prepare to have Bear home with you again.

You've done such a good job of giving Bear his voice in his own diary that after I read your note of what happened, I read it again and heard the Bear telling it from his perspective. I'm sure he was playing a great game with the vacuum cord and got quite cross at you for making him untangle. I'm sure too, that he felt so comforted as you held him.

You've done the very best thing you could for him in not prolonging things for your own comfort and to also protect your DD from this. I said it before and I'll say it again; you're the perfect example of what I class as a great and selfless parent.

I hope that you will feel joy and comfort when you spend time in the garden and glance at Bear's resting spot.

I'm going to give my two kitties extra cuddles tonight and hope that I get to spend as long with them as you've had with Bear. At 13 and 16 months, I can't imagine life without them (and we've only had them for 4 months!)

    Thank you again.

The thing is, for the first time in ages, decided he was coming home and have no idea how much it's going to cost, and I don't care! I will find the money. I will find out how much when I go to collect him next week.

However, I've saved quite a bit of money today. My original car insurance renewal came in at £289.72. After a bit of shopping around I've got it down to £212.50 and £80 cashback:T bringing it down to £132.50, a saving of £157.22.

Also taken the advice in the mse email and changed energy suppliers to get the two winters price fix and saved about £150 a year.

I did a long shift at Pr*t yesterday, to make up for not going in the day before. When I got there I learned that I had won the exceptional employee award - £50 cash. Apparently the mystery shopper named and shamed me! Also found £5 roadkill. I was very good and went and put the money straight into the bank. Before mse I would have found something to fritter it on, but I don't need anything at the moment.

I've given myself today off looking for jobs, I am very tired and I want to go and see the Captain. I haven't been down since the Bear died as I didn't want him to pick up how upset I was. Being the Captain he might have done something unusual about it!

Just made some fresh pea and mint soup and used up the rest of the Bear's cream cheese in it, absolutely lush! I know he would object strongly to such a blatant waste of cream cheese! [he didn't always eat cream cheese, it was just to get him to take his medicine]

Tonight I'm going to catch up on all your diaries and see how you've been getting on, perhaps with a glass of wine or two....join me?
