Politics in a cafe, that should be good for some stories in your book. Really hope you can get the working relation on an even keel for both your sakes and you survive the heat today.

Oh my goodness - I remember that feeling in the caff in the heat, felt like my head might explode and was the colour of beetroot as well - most attractive. If you really want to experience invisible get a job as a cleaner!!

Sorry to hear re poorly Bear - just as well you took him to the vet. Has he been fighting do you think - cat bites are notoriously full of bacteria and nasties. Hope he's well soon, clearly thinks you're mummy.

The coffee shop was hell on earth! So hot and the second cook doesn't like me to make matters worse. She thinks I'm up myself, though to be quite honest it's too hot to be up anything. The best option would be stretching out somewhere very cool.
probably threatened by your obvious intelligence, after all you are as you say super woman x I really feel for you being in this situation though as its really hard working somewhere with people you don't get along with and when the work isn't enjoyable either its worse. I know we shouldn't grumble about the nice weather but we are so unprepared for it, its uncomfortable. Hope your feet coped today x

The Bear has got an infection, of what we do not know, but he is running a temperature. He's had an antibiotic shot, a vitamin shot and a painkiller shot. Plus a course of antibiotics, an appetite paste to help him eat and another set of tablets that I have no idea what they're for! Oh yes, and a few tins of food for sick cats! All in, a bargain at £84

Seriously, I'm glad I took him to the vets, the poor thing was unwell and probably would have been worse by Monday. I can see the weight he's lost and he's still very needy, he's currently sitting under the laptop, just so he can sit on my lap!

oh poor poor bear, lucky he's got you to cuddle up to in his hour of need. x

Hope you have had a good weekend other than that and that bear and work gets better soon

Apart from the cooks I'm the only non-youngster there. I think that's go something to do with it and one of the girls helpfully informed me the cook thinks I'm too posh to work there and will be telling them all how to do everything. I won't, as I don't plan on staying! I'm not that worried about the attitude, it's so horribly busy there's no time for small talk.

The heat finished me off yesterday, couldn't do anything again when I got home. Once I discover what having the job does to my benefits I may reconsider doing it.

I'm dripping sweat the whole time I'm there - horrid horrid horrid! Even my hair is wet.The kitchen was 34 degrees  Just as well nobody looks at you :(

The Bear might have been fighting, he does I'm afraid, the vet couldn't find any marks on him. He seems much happier now!

    Dearest Piquant,

I haven't had a chance to post sooner but I have been thinking of you in this heat in the cafe. I hope all this melting turns out to financially worth it for you, if you see what I mean. Glad to hear the Bear is doing better, too. How are the Captain's pink bits? Did you find any zinc cream after?

Sounds awful. It was 29 degrees in my office today and sooo sticky, everyone was complaining. I can't imagine doing physical work in 34 degrees :(. Hope something more suitable comes along very soon x
