  • The Royal Bank of Scotland (my old bank account) still haven't cashed the £1 postal order, and are still adding interest charges to my £200 overdraft on the old account.... CCCS pay them £5 a month, yet they then add like £3 in charges so it'll take forever to clear that amount :(

Hi, good to hear you are still hanging on in there RG. :T

I noticed earlier that you had sent letters regarding the interest and charges. Have you sent the follow up letter from National Debtline Site? It is a more 'threatening' one, more official, if you know what I mean.

I also wondered if you had given any further thought to an IVA as a previous user / troll suggested on a thread somewhere. I know they are not always suitable, my debt / home equity ratio means they are no good for me for instance. However, if they were suitable then it is certainly something I would consider. Although I am proud to be facing up to my debts I am not sure that I will feel particularly proud to be paying my creditors the full amount! They have made substantial profits from me for many years so I would not have been ashamed had Bankruptcy or an IVA been appropriate.

Please at least make sure you have checked all your options.

In the meantime get a follow up letter sent off if you have not already done so.

    RG,

You say you cannot face 18 years paying these debts? You are fed up of paying interest? Have you not listened? There are only 2 ways to make your journey shorter, either go bankrupt or look at an IVA. AN IVA will legally freeze all interest and charges and your DMP won't. The BR will end it once and for all if you choose that route.

CCCS won't like either of those choices but you cannot worry about them, you must do what is right for you. Wakeupcall seems to have done everything he or she can to help his or her self but is facing a 19 year DMP. Is that what you want? Because that's what will happen.
