  • I pay mine on standing order as I get paid 15th too. If you contact them & ask for there bank details they'll let you set up a standing order.

Best ask them when they send your money to your creditors so that you don't end up paying late or early. I had an issue not long after changing to standing order that my money only went every 2mths as I was paying it late.

Typically they take teh money on the 1st and pay it to the creditors on the 25th I think it is. This gives them time to make arrangements andI'm sure it earns them interest for a few weeks. As they operate a charity, they need to make money where they can without charging fees. Seems a fair way to me.

Its hard for me to keep calling them as they operate 8am to 6pm, and thats when I'm usually on my way into work, then coming home :(

Not actually rang CCCS for a couple of years, but when I did it was 8am-8pm they were open. It might have changed since then.

While it would be great to have all DD's out of the way on pay day to make budgeting easier, I soon got used to subtracting CCCS's £600 from whatever was in the bank account until after the DD is taken.

I remember the days when I'd spend until my account squeaked (and then some!) but after nearly 2yrs on my DMP it still amazes me that I can see 'spare' cash in my account and not feel the need to spend it on cr*p :D

Regarding the online access, I think it was about a month after I signed up that I received the password by letter but it's a great tool once you get access to it. Super motivation when you can look and see the debt dropping away in black and white any time you feel a wobble!
  • Ours goes out on the first too. I love the online access. Been set up so long dint know how longittook to come through.x

A tip for the online access- your post reminded me I'd never had a password through so I asked when I phoned today!

Go onto the login page on the CCCS website and click on 'forgot your password' - it'll have you enter your client number and email, and you'll get a password emailed to you in 24hrs! :) This is what I was told to do by a very helpful person today!

The general helpline is indeed 8am - 8pm, but to speak to a "client counsellor", they are 8am to 6pm.

  • Just a quick question here.

Do you all make your payment to them on the 1st of the month?

I have been told my DMP is now set up, and as above, they will take my first payment by direct debit on the 1st.

I'm not being ungrateful, but now I have a new basic bank account, I'm trying to get all my essential d/d's taken out as close to the 15th (my payday) as possible. Having the CCCS one come out is a bit awkward when trying to do a new weekly budget planner!

I'd rather they took the money either 2 weeks later, or two weeks earlier, not slap bang in the middle!

Like I said, just curious to see if they take everyone's payment on the 1st of each month making it easier for them?

Cheers for the help so far CCCS
My payment comes out of my account on the 10th of each month, it was set up like this. My creditiors are paid round about 25th.

Might be worth giving them a ring to discuss it in case they can change the date for you?

As someone who is waiting for my DMP to be set up (literally as we speak, paperwork went off last week), this thread has been really helpful. I've been fortunate in getting some of my creditors to accept reduced payments and one CC has even dropped interest to 1.99% just through my own legwork, but having all of them be paid through CCCS will stop me forgetting (im transferring bank accounts and from three accounts to one, and only managed to get one switched by new bank). I'm well and truly in my tunnel now, but the light at the end is getting bigger every day, and most of it is down to my attitude towards my debt now, which has been helped a hundredfold by the lovely supportive atmosphere on here :)
