Lying - making an untrue comment.

Deception - allowing someone to form a misconception and not correcting this with the truth.

Not informing someone of something - depends on the intent. Was the lack of forthcoming info down to simply being unthinking or as a deliberate act to ensure ignorance? If deliberate, was it done out of malice or of concern?

However whatever the answer, the examples in the OP do not constitute lying, imo.

If you can't actually post the situation, then there's not much point to the thread is there? Sorry, but it seems a bit drama llama to keep hinting and hand wringing about your 'big secret'.

They kept me in the dark, deliberately I would say so what does that make it?

I think the person who used the phrase 'deceitful' is nearest the mark

'Untrustworthy' also springs to mind. If you can't trust them to tell you something imprtant, it makes you wonder what else they haven't told you about.

The fact they seem more concerned about the technicality of not eing a liar rather than about how upset you obviously feel about the matter speaks volumes :(
