I copy down the proportions from the side of the innocent smoothies for mine - works reasonably well.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -
Next time I go to the supermarket I'll remember to take my pen and notepad to copy some of the indgriedients, Hope nobody stops me or even worse knows me - no really that wouldn't bother me if they did, I have a good sense of humour and if that does'nt go down well - then tough. :rotfl:
What I would like to know is, if, I put veggies into the smothie maker will it still pulse like fruit as vegies are really tough unless they are cooked.
I would still like some recipes other than the ones already mentioned above. :beer:became debt free December 060 -
So many Juice Bars have opened up around my area its unreal. Simply go into your nearest one and pick up a leaflet, they list all there ingredients for each drink they make! Simple0

My favourite is banana and strawberry. I keep a supply of frozen strawberries in the freezer and just chuck in a carton of yoghurt, 2 bananas, a pint of milk and a handful of frozen stawberries in my smoothie maker, yum!!Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Whole fruit or veg that is blended can be counted as towards as many of your 5 as you take, whereas juice can only be counted as one, with smoothies the whole fruit is used and that is preferable to juice - but I read somewhere that the blending does something to the fibre in the fruit which, when eaten whole, slows down the rate the fruit sugars are absorbed into the blood, so it is better whole.
Was that garbled? Sorry.....0 -
I bought a book on juices and smoothies from Lakeland ltd. It cost £5 but has been well worth the money-has lots of interesting combinations and some recipes using frozen fruit.0

I generally make smoothies by blending skim milk, plain low fat yoghurt, fruit (usually strawberries or mango, but sometimes banana, raspberries, tinned peaches and apricots, or any other fruit that isn't acidic) and ice cubes. I will also add protein powder and psyllium husks to make it more filling if it's for breakfast. If I am in a seriously healthy frame of mind I sometimes add ground linseed as well but that's not often.'Everyone loves to read but it can be a real nuisance when you lose your place. I always use value yoghurt in mine
it stops them tasting too sickly0 -
I tried my first smoothie tonight, it was yucky, I thought I would try a healthy option - cucumber, advocado mixed with water and fresh mint. I thought I was going to be sick.
Tomorrow I am going to try bannana milkshake which will probably be a healthy choice, but I will try it with the yoghurt next time I go shopping. :rolleyes:became debt free December 060
