Don't forget that your yoghurt that didn't quite set (I'm experimenting with yog making in my slow cooker at the moment and it's not always a great success) is a good base for smoothies.0

Don't know if this has been mentioned before but you could freeze yogurt in ice cube trays. Only just thought of this as my own smoothies are not as cold as the ones you can buy. I have been trying to make smoothies since I discovered the extra thing that came with my Kenwood makes smoothies!!
Must put some in the freezer now and see if it works!!

Anyone know how to make smoothies cold as my idea posted above didn't work!!0

Um.. make sure you're using cold liquid? Use frozen fruit like frozen berries, grapes, banana? Add icecubes to the smoothie either in the glass/jug or in the blender, but only if your blender can handle icecubes.0

can anyone tell me whether you have to have one of these all-singing-all dancing smoothie maker/juicer machines, or can you make them in a bog standard blender?
i dont currently posess either, but the MIL and i have been debating about getting one (or the other) for a while now, so your wise imput as to which you recommend would be much appreciatedknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
You can just use a normal blender, but don't put ice in it unless it says it can handle ice. You can get a stick blender for a 5er from argos which is good enough, but works best if you roughly mash up things like banana first. Works for soups too.
You could also use a food processor but it would probably be a little more difficult (as no jug etc) and you might not get the same texture, but it should be fine.0 -
I just use my blender to make mine. Thank you for all the ideas.
Some one asked about keeping it cold I sometimes put Ice cream in mine and that makes it cooler.0 -
I have a braun hand processor with all the attachments. It also has an ice crusher bit. Find it very useful for smoothies, soups, chopping onions etc.0
