So it's 1 week till payday.
Do you really need any more than £8 housekeepy till then? I know I'm preaching to the converted, but it may not be as bad as you think, depending what food etc you already have in the house. As you know I have £6 in my purse which I'm trying to eke out into next week.
How much will a week of petrol cost you?Chin up, we'll get you through it - we can do 7 days.

Well, I put £20 in the car yesterday so, in theory, that should last although with the car also being poorly I'm sure it's using up more than it should.
Noticed today that we could do with some more potatoes...but I think that's it atm.Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Hello,
Just read the last 2 pages of your diary (lunchbreak won't allow me to read them all at once) and I just want to give you a big hug :grouphug: (as close as I could find!)
It sounds like your doing amazingly, and I will catch up with your diary over the next few lunch times! If I had a computer at home I think my time would be divided between MSE and Spread sheets.

Been looking at the PPI questionnaire again today. Still finding it confusing, and Mr BR isn't much help as he can't remember stuff that I need to know for the form...also he's changed jobs since then and so he can't just go and inquire about things like sickness pay and what have you.
Any suggestions? Would a letter first be a better idea or not?Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

How do you all do your shopping?
Do you do it monthly with top-up bits, fortnightly or weekly?
We've been doing it monthly with top-up bits, but the 'top-ups' are becoming more and more like 'proper' shops so I'm thinking of making it weekly instead as of pay day as I'm sick of having no money for food by this time in the month.
Suggestions please folks? Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Started looking at this thread yesterday, I admire your journey Rose and have been inspired to write one of my own!
As for the shopping, I now do the shopping as I'm not as likely to buy items we don't need that Mrs Wal would, and I do it weekly. The last two weekly shops I have done online at Tesco as I had a £10 voucher off your next online shop come through the post and £5 of clubcard vouchers so got a £75.00 shop for £60 including delivery!
Other times I shop at Aldi but always do it weekly, Aldi is great, they now sell coke so no need to go to Asda/Sainsburys to buy that.
I honestly don't think we could do a monthly shop as we would spend more, Mrs Wal is a Childminder so needs to cook healthy meals for the children she minds so we would be buying fresh produce weekly.
I'm comfortable with spending between £60 and £70 a week on shopping, it is much less than we were spending0 -
Hi BR,
I can't help you with the PPI stuff I'm afraid (I haven't had a loan so recently to be able to look at it), but I can tell you what we do shopping wise. Once a week - no top ups unless we run out of milk... that's the only thing. My hubby sometimes uses some of his own spare £ to buy himself beer or rubbish - this is our agreement. We put in what we need to cover the household each month and then what's left is ours (in my case it's usually less than £50, he has a couple of hundred).
Our weekly shop is somewhere between £50 and £70 usually.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Thanks folks, we shop at Aldi first and Asda for the stuff we can't get at Aldi and we usually shop together and with a list. (Sometimes stuff 'falls' into the trolly but it's rare.)
I honestly think that going back to a weekly shop (which is what we did pre-DMP) would work out cheaper, or if not then we'd at least have a bit more housekeeping at the end of the month. We're going to give it a go anyway..
Welcome to the madness that is my diary Walaboobah (not sure I dare ask about your name lol)
I seem to have lost some stalkers along the way, but all out welcome!
Wannabe, ours is about £50-70 as well but those are the supposed top-up shops! I commented to Mr BR the other day that our top-ups are more like normal weekly shops really. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

i'd also go for the weekly shop, we do a thurs main shop, small top up every other weekend, usually salad stuff, milk we get from Asda, inbetween, but just have enough change for the milk.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
