Also wanted to add that I'm also currently training my OH to take some financial responsibility. Not unlike training a dog. I'm trying to be patient, go through things step by step, and not get so annoyed I do it myself.
It may take some time, but my will is stronger. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
I think it's just the way of the world that us girls tend to deal with the organisation mainly. It's so overwhelming and it's still early days for us. Sometimes I feel my head will explode, but all of this stress will be worth it I'm sure. I think we will still be learning a completely different way of life in years to come, but it will be for the better!
Mr Pinot is good, but he doesn't deal with any of this financial stuff at all. He is supportive and will listen but he wouldn't have a clue if I went on strike and handed the reins to him!
Anyway, I thinking woud only interfere if he did ! .:rotfl:LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

BR my husband drives me mad when it comes to money. Would you believe that yesterday I was talking to him about payments/money for the month and I said we had £600 put aside (for rent) he responded by asking if that was our DMP payment. We pay MUCH less than that to CCCS. He has no idea  It must be so nice for him to have someone who juggles all the money. To be honest he is so bloody crap with it I just do everything moneywise and transfer his wages to which ever account it needs to be in.
Hope you are doing ok x0 -
That's the problem though, I don't juggle the money as it's all in his name. I have to nag him to juggle it, and then he often doesn't.
I was suggesting the other day that he was to get another basic account and transfer the food/petrol budget amounts into it and then we can just ignore the 'primary' account until the end of the month and divvy up any remainder stuff into pots (virtual or real). He wasn't keen, so it hasn't happened. I'm just still so paranoid about running out of money, I don't think I've sussed out this budgeting thing properly yet at all.Our LBM: Dec 2011. Today's post: Letter from Currys about a warranty that they want us to take out (no thanks). A letter from Tesco with the grand total of £1.50 worth of vouchers (wooh, although 'every little helps') and a letter from Yorkshire Bank saying 'thanks for the amount of £** but 'this wasn't the amount we were expecting'. (tough). 'Please pay the remainder of the balance etc etc'. They've advised that, if we're struggling, we might like to get hold of a debt help charity. Shows that they've ignored all correspondence from us and CCCS so far then, but still accepted the money! So, not only are they going to get *another* we're with CCCS please talk to them type letter, they're also getting a letter apologising that in Feb they're only getting a token payment of £1! They're going to love that aren't they?! *sigh*
Had a very odd dream last night. Dreamed that I was in an old building, sort of cross between an old hotel and an old school/uni, all oak staircases and stuff but no-where I'd been before. The snag was that this old building was falling apart, literally, buts breaking off and finding yourself stuck on a staircase which had pulled away from the landing and people had to come and help you so you didn't fall. Or you'd open a door and discover nothing on the other side...later I was in a coach being should the now ruined building. The coach stopped and I had to go back in to fetch some stuff...parts of the building was fine, you could use a lift, but other bits were dangerous and you'd find yourself on very shaky ground (literally). It was very real though, I was both surprised but relieved to wake up and find myself safe in bed.
I wonder what all that means then. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Just posted on the DMP Support thread re your Yorkshire Bank letter the following -
In my humble opinion just send the letters and dont worry
They cant have what you havent got
Pinot x
On another note, dont get me started on dreams, if and when you finally plough through my lengthy diary you will see a few mentiones of weird dreams ! Mine have settled down now, but when we were in the early stages of getting everything set up , I had the weirdest dreams which when I sat down and through about them properly I think they were in a roundabout way linked to my current situation !
Re the bank accounts, we have an account where I pay money in to cover all direct debits and another for everything else, food, repairs, clothing etc etc. Whatever is left at the end of the month if anything is divied up into the pots. It imagine it must be very difficult for you though if everything is in OHs name.
Hope you are feeling a little better today xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

BR I did have to phone 2 companies that were soley in my husband's name, as he was struggling to call due to work. They said they wouldn't talk to me at first but did deal with me when I basically asked them if they wanted their money back and the issue sorting
Not all companies will do this though- I know we needed to change some information N Power whilst I was in hospital and they refused point blank to speak to my husband as it was in my name, unless I gave them permission to deal with the account. As for banking, I have his online banking details so I can easily get things sorted that way (wonders if I have 3 children instead of just the two?!)
I don't blame you for worrying about running out of money, it is a constant worry as budgeting seems difficult. Sometimes there seems to be too many things to see to and think about!!0 -
Morning folks,
Well, this morning the only mail was a note from the library letting us know that a book Mr BR ordered ages ago is finally available (at least I assume that's what it is).
I've tallied up the latest receipts from our shopping budget and, according to me calculations, we have £50 to last us until the 24th. I'm not sure if this is good or bad. We'd bought all our shopping at the beginning of the month and then the plan was to just buy replacement bits for the rest of the month, but I'm not sure it's worked out any cheaper doing it that way, to be honest. *sigh* I know I shouldn't, but I do already miss having a CC as a back up.Our LBM: Dec 2011.
