My young son is now recovering from a tumour. His results have been given all clear to date and he is recovering very well. Wish to take him abroad maybe to see some friends in Europe for a few days and later a package holiday too.

Please can anyone advise does standard holiday insurance and E111 card cover him?
If not do i need to buy special cover for him? is so any suggestions on companies offering insurance at reasonable rates for young kids.

I have found as someone cured of Ca and akso having bypass surgery that what is a good deal one year can become a bad one the next. The claims expereince of an insurer or change of underwriter can change attitudes greatly. I just had to get on the phone but eventually I got reasonable cover. I also found that the specialists were the worst of the bunch. On one occasion the travel agent's/ tour operator's policy was the best even with the medical screening. That certainly goes against conventional lore.

    Try these

    http://www.direct-travel.co.uk/

They offered a good cheap policy which covered all the usuals but didn't cover anything relating to the original illness (not a problem by the sounds of it).

The best value we found by far.

  • I'm trying to find travel insurance for my mother who is in her 50s and has asthma and hypertension. These are both controlled by drugs and don't cause any problems. We're after annual insurance (Europe) but have been either refused insurance or quoted ridulously high - any suggestions for companies to try?

    Thanks

I have asthma and a smoker, a combination which many didnt like, personally I get free insurance with my bank account, credit card and 1/2 a dozen other places but before I had these insureandgo.co.uk (even though they are one of our competitors) were the only ones which really took into account the severity of the condition (I have never been hospitalised and my asthema is so mild that I never use up a perscription before it is out of date)

I have 'controlled by medication' high blood pressure and have used www.direct-travel.co .uk for the last couple of years. The phone number is 01903 812345 and you get to speak to really helpful people in this country;) so might be worth a quote.

i would say insure and go. i have diabetes and they were quite cheap for annual european cover, considering i only had it for a month when i took the insurance out. they we also one of the only ones i called that would cover me for things due to my conditions as i had been hospitalised in the past year many places said that they would cover me for everything else but not if it was top do with my diabetes

martins got a section on this under 'insurance' on the left hand menu, there's a specialist thread for this topic in there that's got a bunch of insurers and contact details.
    Good luck!
