I subscribe to Which? and there they recommended the Travel Insurance Agency, based in North Finchley, as a 'best buy' and good for pre-existing medical conditions. Booked family cover for a two weeks holiday in the Med, was told that husbands minor condition he had last year would be fine, but I that when I received the policy documents I should ring a phone number that would be included, just to give more details. "They'll probably say you didn't even need to ring" says the girl "they're really only interested in heart conditions or cancer".

OK fine. So today I ring this number who turn out to be some kind of underwriters who work for more than one travel agency, and after going through many details with them, am told they cannot cover him for this condition as it has not been diagnosed. What the hell? He has seen a consultant last year and been discharged as they can find nothing wrong.

"Its OK" they say "We will cover you for everything else" It that's what I wanted I would have chosen bog-standard policy from elsewhere that would have been cheaper!

Now I have taken cover out (for only £3 more) from Bradford and Bingley, who were fine about it. AND I won't get my money back from TIA until I return the policy document. Just what you need when you're trying to pack!

I think MSE'ers should avoid this company. The way they get your business is misleading.

    Daft question, but here goes...
I'm 7 weeks pregnant (only just found out :T ) and due to go on a weekend break in Europe in about 4 weeks time. I have yet to arrange travel insurance and from reading around, can't quite tell whether this makes a difference
Is it something I need to get insurance for specifically, or will I still be able to go as I would have done anyway???

    Try http://www.itssoeasytravelinsurance.com/

It's specifically designed for people with preexisting conditions and if they can cover you their premiums are the lowest I've come across.

As an added bonus they are in fact a not-for-profit organisation themselves, entirely owned by a registered charity, Freedom to Travel. So do support them!

We have used them for years.

All I did was tell the insuance company, I had to go through screening, but was fully covered at no extra cost. My feeling was as there were no complications it was fine.
