Travel Insurance for Specific Conditions

As medical expenses are very high in the USA I suspect that not many companies would be prepared to insure your husband so soon after his operation. If you do happen to find one I suspect that they will specifically exclude the condition and all further conditions arising from his problem......which would just about cover any risk.
I think you will either have to postpone the trip or fund the risk yourselves.
Sorry.........I have retired from a career in Financial Services........Thank God. Any advice given may be as a result of senile dementia so dont take it too seriously.......0 -
Have you tried the tour co's insurer. I do not know how my one would have reacted to a trip stateside. but in my case about seven months after CABG x4 they insured me with only a moderate premium weighting. Otherise it is a case of going to a broker or phoning round. Specilaists IMO are a last resort; they know or think you are desperate. Recommendations are not always proven worthwhile as underwritng criterai can change almost overnight. Do some work and I am reasonably sure you'll get something.0

Where would I start looking for quotes for worldwide travel cover + winter sports. Just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and on tablets.
Any ideas ?0 -
We use TravelPlan Direct for our wintersports cover.
http://www.travelplandirectinsurance.com
You can get a basic online quote, then you need to call their medical screening unit to declare your medical condition and they will advise you what it will cost to include that condition on the cover - or they may tell you they won't insure it.
We have a couple of family members with asthma which they covered for no extra cost - appreciate this is minor compared with blood pressure, but the previous year it was regarded as a problem, so clearly things change.
If you can stand their automated answering switchboard (press 1 for this, press 2 for that....etc), they are pretty efficient - just don't bother trying to contact them by email, they work well by phone only.0 -
We use insure and go. One of their questions says something like "Do you have any medical conditions other that hypertension or asthma that are not controlled by medication?" So you can do it all online.0

Thanks guys...I will check them out.0

Hello,
I've searched the forums for info about this for my friend but it hasn't come up with much. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this type of travel insurance? I'm looking for something that is comprehensive and good value. But if you know of any basic/cheaper options then lemme know. She is going for one week at the end of March to Canada and plans to go skiing.
Your help is much appreciated.:beer:0
