Have you tried using the brushes from Orly polishes? They have a rubber grip and are ergonomically designed. With some makes of polish, if you pull the lids off (the lids are stuck to the brushes, they're not made in one section) then you can always replace the lid with a spare one from a bottle you have saved. Or just keep reusing brushes - that way you can use Nails Inc, just dip another brush in it. Or is that what you're already doing? I have fibrobrain today...:o

Yes, Orly are good I have a couple. My problem is that I have no empty bottles with good brushes, I had SV and Nail Envy, but I had soooo much stuff, that when we moved house in October, I had to be a bit ruthless with so many useful things, empty pots, bottles, pump dispensers, books etc........

I hope to be able to use a "good" brush, then clean it with acetone, ready for the next use. I don't even have any unloved polish that I can throw, as I re-homed them all too.

Iamashoppinfaddict is coming to my rescue when she empties the equivalent of a splutterer, bless her.

  • Glad I could help :) I have very flaky peely nails too, what are ;you doing with yours? I tend to find I have to give my nails a break for a couple of months at a time, starting from when the free edge starts to peel. My nails look dreadful at the moment, I cut them right back until the peeled part has grown out. I find I can't wear acrylics because my nails are very thin and bend with the tiniest bit of pressure. This makes the acrylics/gels etc ping off around the edges. I unfortunately inherited my Dad's nails instead of my Mums!

I'm going to get a Leighton Denny crystal file soon which may help but I've not found anything that actually works to harden them up. Very

I was advised to use cuticle oil 3 or 4 times a day, and to massage it into the whole top part of the finger. Apparently it's the massaging which increases the blood flow to the nail bed, which encourages healthier nail growth. It takes about 3 months though for the results to show as you have to grow out all the old un-massaged nail.

Well I haven't managed 3-4 times a day, I have an active lifestyle and don't really sit still long enough to remember to do it, but I am pretty much managing once a day during the week, and maybe twice a day at weekends. It's not as much as advised but better than I was doing (once a week!). My 3 months trial period will end at the end of June and my nails are better than they were, I've still got some flaky nail to file off but only about 1mm, so hopefully once that's gone it'll be stronger nail coming through behind it. We'll see. I got a crystal/glass nail file from M&S as I had a voucher, and it's so much nicer than the emery boards!Gives a much smoother result and feels nicer to use too.

 I've been lurking in this thread a bit because I'm an ex-addict, but had to comment on this one...

I got my Konad stamp on eBay, just got the cheapest basic kit with the stamper and scraper like this one. Don't worry about getting special stamping polish, standard polishes work just fine as long as they're not too sheer after one coat.

The Konad plates are quite expensive though, and a little small for my nails for the full nail designs so I didn't use them. I recommend the BundleMonster plates on Amazon. I've linked to the second set which I prefer, but I do have both.

Hope that helps, stamping is quite fun. :)

thanks thats a great help have ordered the bundle monster :)... can anyone suggest wht colours are good for stamping?
