OH watched football, so I retreated to bedroom to play with my nailpolish, result is thumbs, pinkies and index fingers are My Private Jet, ring fingers DS Shimmer and index fingers are Simply Smash-ing! (all OPI), couldn't get the lid off DS Elegance, or they would all have been Holo's. Looks a bit daft, but good enough for gardening, and will take it off later.

I should perhaps put this on the swaps page, but if anyone has, or is likely to have in the next few weeks an empty OPI, Seche Vite or China Glaze bottle, could they contact me? I have some dexterity problems due to arthritis:eek: and simply don't get on with Nails Inc and a couple of Older Barry M polish bottles, in my clear out to move I threw away Nail Envy and Seche Vite bottles, but could use them now, not to transfer the polish, but just the brushes. I love some of the BM colours, but have hesitated to buy them.

Have you tried using the brushes from Orly polishes? They have a rubber grip and are ergonomically designed. With some makes of polish, if you pull the lids off (the lids are stuck to the brushes, they're not made in one section) then you can always replace the lid with a spare one from a bottle you have saved. Or just keep reusing brushes - that way you can use Nails Inc, just dip another brush in it. Or is that what you're already doing? I have fibrobrain today...:o

Well I like the OPI polish :) Nice and easy to apply and good coverage :) Looks very subtle-will be nice with a french manicure once my nails are long enough. Not keen on the grey one in the collection though-just as well it's a mini LOL

Is it me or do these bottles look just like the OPI bottles?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-Color-Nail-Lacquer-Polish-Nail-Art-15ml-0-5Fl-Oz-/300709002320?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Nails_Manicure_Pedicure_CA&var=&hash=item4603a73c50#ht_12966wt_1130

They're very similar! You can buy all sorts of designs of bottles 'off the shelf', it could be that they chose to use the same bottles - I'd love to know if it's OPI with a different name on it though, some of those colours are to die for :o

ladies just watched a konad stamp thing on you tube ... i liked it alot ... i think i might want to try some stamping on my nails as it looks relatively easy .... can anyone recommend a site to go to for stamps and the rest of the stuff i would need ?

I got my Konad stamp on eBay, just got the cheapest basic kit with the stamper and scraper like this one. Don't worry about getting special stamping polish, standard polishes work just fine as long as they're not too sheer after one coat.

The Konad plates are quite expensive though, and a little small for my nails for the full nail designs so I didn't use them. I recommend the BundleMonster plates on Amazon. I've linked to the second set which I prefer, but I do have both.

Hope that helps, stamping is quite fun. :)
  • That's brilliant! :j The bumps could be air bubbles - try not to shake your polish, just roll it between your hands for a minute to mix it :)

    Thanks!

I'm really pleased with the result and feeling more confident already. You're right, I did shake the bottles so won't do that again. I'm sure the first and second coats were dry (I did 3), but I may have been a bit quick off the mark with the top coat, so it could be that too. More patience needed!

Thanks for the help, I'll keep practicing, then when I've got the basic colour application perfect I'll be back for tips on more advanced stuff!

I'm also trying to improve the condition of my nails (they flake and peel - already had advice on here about that which I am following) so hopefully I'll be able to grow them longer soon too.

I just noticed, your nails are exactly the same shape as mine are - we have the same fan shaped nails :)

Glad I could help :) I have very flaky peely nails too, what are ;you doing with yours? I tend to find I have to give my nails a break for a couple of months at a time, starting from when the free edge starts to peel. My nails look dreadful at the moment, I cut them right back until the peeled part has grown out. I find I can't wear acrylics because my nails are very thin and bend with the tiniest bit of pressure. This makes the acrylics/gels etc ping off around the edges. I unfortunately inherited my Dad's nails instead of my Mums!

I'm going to get a Leighton Denny crystal file soon which may help but I've not found anything that actually works to harden them up. Very

My nails peel as well, or at least they used to until a friend introduced me to Nailtiques Formula 2. This has made a massive difference to my nails, they never peel anymore. It's not cheap but I just use it as a base coat so a bottle lasts me months. There's a Nail Envy that's specifically for peeling nails (think it's called Sensitive & Peeling). That's very good but for me Nailtiques works better.

I'm currently using the Lush lemony flutter recommended on here. I've also had some very gluey Sally Hanson stuff recently - its called diamond strength ultra rich cuticle cream. Both seem better than the oil pen I bought, which actually seemed to make things worse, but I still struggle to get the skin round my nails and the cuticles really moisturised so they aren't scratchy and tempting.
What do you use? Any other suggestions?

Anything that makes your skin ultra soft is going to help. I bought some intensive handcream (L'Occitane) very rich in shea butter, slather it on overnight. It clings to your hands and sinks in by the morning. That's lovely, very rich. I find my hangnails sometimes peel off painlessly after doing that. You can get raw shea butter on ebay, just warm it up and apply it.

Thank you, I'm definitely going to give that a go as soon as I get some money... hopefully very soon, we're waiting for some contract cheques to come in - two month's worth. We're at the point where we have just stocked the fridge for the final time as we're desperate for this money. Cheques take a week to clear too... unscheduled weightloss imminent :D

I ordered one:o so when it arrives you can talk me through seeing if it's a real one or just the same bottle.
