unixgirluk - It took me a good few attempts to get this. make sure you are using filtered water (I've got a bottle of mineral water only for marbling). I used the NYC polish as it is slightly thinner. I use a reasonably wide necked glass bowl type thing!!! (don't know any other way to describe it).

I haven't tried the varnish remover in the water as haven't needed too. Even the other half spent a few hours going through the science of it with me (is the water too hot, too cold etc etc).

Stick with it as you will crack it after a few attempts.
  • So, my attempt with just a basic colour tonight was my best yet, thanks to advice here and a few youtube videos. However, I have more questions...

(not brilliant but better than my usual effort, cuticles are a 'work in progress'!)

Why do I get what I presume are tiny air bubbles? It all looked fine when I first did it, but about an hour those tiny bumps have appeared. This has happened before too. Actually it happens a lot. What am I doing wrong?

Yeah, bubbles happen when you don't leave long enough between coats. That's an excellent paint job otherwise, not a spot of polish on your cuticles :T

Well I like the OPI polish :) Nice and easy to apply and good coverage :) Looks very subtle-will be nice with a french manicure once my nails are long enough. Not keen on the grey one in the collection though-just as well it's a mini LOL

Is it me or do these bottles look just like the OPI bottles?

Me too, Buyapowa have got a co-buy coming soon for the Minnie Mouse mini's set. I just hope I'm not at work when dot goes live as I will miss out.

I have emailed them for a reminder re: this one as well. Let's hope there are loads of other people looking for it so the price comes right down. I know that at wholesale price the mini kits usually sell for £6.95 and I'd love to pay somewhere near this for this kit.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I know what you mean, sometimes my hangnails end up a bit sharp and too pickable. If you can get as close to the base of the hanging-off bit (technical term ;)) so nothing is left loose then it makes it easier. Also - use a decent cuticle oil. I do my cuticles with mine and rub it into my fingers too. In fact, I use my cuticle oil as a hand treatment, my hands feel lovely afterwards :)

I'm currently using the Lush lemony flutter recommended on here. I've also had some very gluey Sally Hanson stuff recently - its called diamond strength ultra rich cuticle cream. Both seem better than the oil pen I bought, which actually seemed to make things worse, but I still struggle to get the skin round my nails and the cuticles really moisturised so they aren't scratchy and tempting.
What do you use? Any other suggestions?

I bought a set of dotting and striping tools and found the same. I'm not pleased as its been weeks and they are not here and I'd just as soon have paid a few more £s so I could have taken them on holiday to play :(
Now I'm back I've emailed them again, but they may be getting a poor feedback regardless as I'm not fond of fibbers.

Well I've had a grovelly email from them saying I can have money back and they'll still send the stuff, or money back plus some extra. As its all still not arrived after a month I can't say for sure if they were lost on their way from somewhere else in the UK or abroad. I've asked for a new set *only* if they have some in the UK so I'm not waiting an age again.
