Me too, Buyapowa have got a co-buy coming soon for the Minnie Mouse mini's set. I just hope I'm not at work when dot goes live as I will miss out.
My nails for the weekend are Opi 'did it on em' by Nicki Minaj, like a neon yellow/green colour. And today I've added sparkly black tips and a sticker design on my ring fingers.
Apologies for the picture darkness, it's the oly picture that shows the mani off the best.
Broke my no buying nail polish in June challenge, went to the beauty place for waxing today and had some money from an expiring voucher to spend so bought 'sunrise' by Jessica, one of the new sling collection polishes, can't see gift vouchers going to waste now.........:A
Very very nice! Your smile like is perfect:T
The colour is mouthwatering, like chocolate limes. There's usually a way to equate something with food0 -
I've just been on ebay...
and bought THIS I'm really hoping it works, I'm planning on trying it with a basecoat first, when that's almost dry and still tacky it should be much like glue. They're really cheap because she bought far too many of them.
It would have been rude not to help her!0 -

I've got some rolls of nail foil, you need to use specific glue with that, tacky polish doesn't work. Hopefully this stuff will be different.0 -
I need your help ladies please. I tried the water marbling and it went horribly wrong.
I used:-
a plastic dish
room temp water
3 different nail varnishes (different makes and finally tried 2 from same make but that made no difference
I followed the method I'd seen on youtube, but as soon as I took my nail out the nail was thickly coated and the 'design' had 'melted' together leaving it a complete mess. I tried a few times but each time was the same.
Where am I going wrong? Off to try my last colour of magnetic I'd bought, the purple.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Is the polish spreading ok in the water? A dish might not be deep enough, you might be better with a plastic cup or something. If it's not spreading very well try bottled/filtered water rather than tap water (I use tap water most of the time but bottled water is slightly better). Also, try adding a couple of drops of nail varnish remover to the water (that was a tip I picked up from someone on here).
Are you cleaning all the excess polish out of the water before you lift your nail out? I leave my nail in the water for a few secs and blow on the water to dry the remaining polish. Then you need to make sure you've cleaned every scrap of it off the surface before you lift your nail out.
If your design is really thick you might be using too much polish. You don't need many rings in your bullseye, half a dozen should do (one drop of polish in each ring).
Have you watched Colette's videos on youtube (link in post #1)? This youtuber is very good as well... http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA9E9503D7FFB6787&feature=plcp (though her nails give me the creeps).0 -

Always start with the pinkies and work your way back - if you paint your thumbnail first, you're only going to lean on it or wipe it on the table (or is that just me?!).
Try not to have too much polish on your brush. You'll get the feel of it once you've used it once or twice. You can always add another coat, it's much easier than putting too much on and having to remove it.
Try to leave a tiny (< 1mm) border around the edge of the nail, this will make it look more professional rather than going right up to the cuticle. I find it makes my nails look a little longer and straighter too.
Once you've added your topcoat (most of us swear by Seche Vite) and it's dried for a minute or two, add some cuticle oil to each cuticle. Cuticle oil is very very fine, it penetrates your nail to keep them in good condition and growing well. Olive oil etc is just going to sit on top of your nail instead of sinking in.
You can always buy a nail art wheel or use a set of really cheap stick on nails and blu tac them to cocktail sticks and practice painting them. I have lots of that sort of thing around because I love layering and playing around.
Practice, practice, practice. You'll be fine
thank you!!!
I didn't do my nails before I went out. I decided I would probably mess it up being on a timescale and the new colour I wanted to try didn't go with my outfit, so I just did the basecoat and am having a go with the colour now I'm home. So far so good, I'm going slowly and leaving the gap as suggested.... one more coat to do then the top coat!!
thank you for the advice, it's just what I was looking for.0 -

It didn't spread ok no, only when I changed to the matching pair (and they are thinner in consistency) did they spread ok. Yes I tried to mop up the excess but maybe I am putting in too much to begin with? The container I used was a plastic lid from a can of hair mousse, am I better using something else?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Yes, the lid of a can of mousse is probably too small. Try a plastic cup or an old mug you don't use anymore. Couple of drops of remover in the water should help as well.0

I tried this tonight. The only tricky bit I found was getting the transfer off the plastic (as well as drawing something decent of course. Once on you really can't see that its a transfer.
The shapes are crudely done but the actual process worked.
Also managed a thumb on the other hand using masking tape as suggested (thank you ladies).0
