    Right ladies...

In my attempt to look more feminine, I need some long lasting and hard wearing nail varnish. I work with children so subtlety is a necessary, as well as quick and doesn't chip in seconds....Also need masterclass on preparation and application.

Youtube is your friend elfen, loads of videos on there that'll help.

Saw on one of the other threads in this forum that nail polish expires after 12 months....

I have some considerably older than that which I still use occasionally. The oldest is a bottle of Chanel that must be close to 20 years old. Needs some shaking before use and there isn't much left now but it still goes on OK.

    Anyone beat that?

I decided to use my No7 Vivid Violet a couple of nights ago and I dunno, it takes forever to dry and chips pretty quickly. Also, you have to put on at least three coats before it becomes opaque. I really love the colour but there is no way I would pay the full £7 for one, I got a smaller bottle of it in a giftset. BTW, Dollar is pretty much perfect, possibly my favourite colour at the moment.

Oh and it seems to take forever to remove! I was scrubbing and scrubbing but on some nails it just wouldn't budge! It can't be my nail varnish remover, it took Mushroom off really easily. I'm giving my nails a break tonight and will paint them tomorrow morning/after/whenever I wake up.

It's my birthday and I have three new OPIs: Vampsterdam, Did you Ear Van Gogh and Wooden Shoe Like to Know which I've just painted on. Is lovely shimmery version of You Don't Know Jacques.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

    Happy Birthday!!
Would love to see your nails :-)

    Amanita , I can't beat 20 years without a doubt!

Caroline I was tempted by it last week, but resisted. Haven't used it before though.

I was bought a Mavala gift set by my Dad when he saw me examining it (I was trying to justify not buying it on sale)! It's really good value. 6 polishes, 5 treatments and a hand cream :-)

Can anyone recommend any cuticle/hangnail treatments? I have incredibly dry skin and the skin around my nails is always dry and ragged. I haven't found ordinary cuticle creams much good. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Managed to resist, I have compiled a list from the collections offered (6 items) which I will check out. 3 are Taupe/Mushroom shades, so will go through stash to see what is similar, so might pick up 2 or 3 over the coming weeks, they will appear for re-sale in *bay I expect. Yay to the South Molton St mani.:)

I have used loads, the best for me were Burts Bees and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, but, don't laugh! I have just ordered Lansinoh Sore Nipple Cream - which the MUA nail board girls are raving about - multi tasking or what?;)

I will keep you posted - cuticle use only.
