Strong signal but no internet connection!

Click Start. Type Internet in the search box. Click Internet Options in Control Panel category. Click on Connections tab. Click LAN settings button. Which boxes (if any) are ticked?

Done. But still the same. Still the same message: server not found or connection was reset while loading.

OK next thing to check.

Close your browser. Turn off your wireless adapter temporarily (either a switch on the front/side of the case, or a combination of the Fn key (bottom left of keyboard) and one of the F keys (top row)).

Plug the ethernet cable into your laptop (there is only one socket it will fit into, and you should feel it click into place) and into one of the four sockets on the back of the router. Wait about 30 seconds then open your browser and see if you can now access the internet properly.

Another thing to check.

with wireless enabled, go to Network and Sharing Center. Click on Change Adapter Settings (on left). Right click the icon for your wireless connection then click Properties. Click on Internet Protocol version 4, then click the properties button. Post what is displayed on the first page.

I am doing the second checking part first:
First page: general
There is two options chosen:
1. Obtain an ip address automatically and
2. Obtain DNS server address automatically

Now heading towards my modem..

No problem online when attached to cable.
Just wondering, might this be due to some virus/trojan/worm infection..?

Possibly, but it could be a number of things.

Download HijackThis. Select the option to do a scan and save logfile. When the scan completes, the logfile will be displayed. Copy and Paste the content of the log here
