hey COOLTRIKERCHICK, we're not related are we?...my dream home is a welsh longhouse with traditional flagstones, aga, and not forgetting the lounge with a walk in fireplace with seats on either side. My best friends mamgi used to have one of these just outside aberystwyth when we were kids.
I'd have to pass on the chickens though. I bought my DW a goat for valentines, not a real one that she could touch and feel, but an oxfam one that will be gifted to a child in rwanda. She found it hilarious, and had to get all her teaching colleagues to guess what she had been given. No one got it right, though one misheard and thought she had been given a goat called wanda!!I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -
Morning all
I have had the best news ................. I'm going to be a granny for the first time ever. I'm over the moon, excited and have been smiling like a cheshire cat since I found out. I drank the biggest bottle of champagne last night and I had the best hangover I've ever had - LOL!!
I don't care about the problems with the car now - it all pales into insignificance.

milkeywills... certainly sounds like the same wave length to me......these types of farm houses are getting sooooo rare now... as peeps are buying them, and totally modernising them.......my mother sold her house 2 years ago.. that was an old cottage.....and the new owners bought it without even seeing it.. and now they have totally vandalised it by knocking ot all down and just leaving 2 outter walls.... and extending the whole lot.. it now loks like a new modern build......if they wanted to do that.. why didnt they buy a plot of land..... the house was in good condition and maintained..... and was tastefully modernised with a new extension.. but in keeping with the character of the cottage.......they mainly bought it because we had purpose build kennels...... which had proper planning etc..... with the council... as we used to show dogs.......
maybe i will find a lovely welsh untouched cottage.. for about £2.50 :rotfl: as thats all the money i have to my name.....lol....Work to live= not live to work0 -

Now I know what's wrong with the flipping dishwasher! The delivery men installed it wrong! Silly beggars installed it one hot, one cold pipe when it should be both cold! Ugh!
Just waiting on the line to find out when someone can come and sort it out... I'm not gonna pay them for the pleasure, it's their problem, not mine!

Most water appliances these days are cold feed only, I don't know why but then most of them are built in europe not here, so perhaps that has something to do with it.
never mind cooltrickerchick, £2.50 is a start, that gets you the doorbell me thinks. If you want it to happen and you set it as your goal you will make it happen in time. I wish more were granted listed building status, farmhouses and barns alike. These days you can't even buy a barn in farm grounds with no amenities for less than £200K, have we all gone mad! Morning all
Welcome back GR and congratulations.
Lelc - I'm going to be a granny for the first time this year too, it's so exciting.
I've discovered I am not allowed to be sick, I feel like a truck has run over me, I have a temperature, am shivering and my head feels like cotton wool but I have just had a phone call to say my Dad has been taken ill in the centre of town and I have to go and pick his car up and drive it back to his house. I'm just sat here waiting for my mother to call back and let me know what is happening. Luckily DH is being wonderful and is going to drive me over there so I don't have to worry about dealing with two cars and one driver. I know that won't be the end of it though, I will also have to deal with taking him all the things he needs and making sure he is okay as Mum is totally useless in a crisis.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Phew! Argos have refunded us the delivery charge and OH managed to change the feed, and the dishwasher is on, yay.
I think most are cold feed only for ebergy reasons, ie you don't have to fire up the hot water every time you need to put on a load, as the heating element heats the water to the desired temperature.
But yay, I'm happy now
