Just to add to the fun here, my daughter has a daddy in English but in her grandmothers native language dadi is granny, dada is grandad and daddy is papa.
She's only one year old so you could forgive her for getting confused but she's just happy she has lots of people who really love her.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

My DD decided what she was going to call both her nannies, one is Red nanny because she had a red coat, the other is upstairs nanny because she lives in a flat.
Even if she hadn't both were content with being nanny.
My son calls his 4 grandmas after the following:
1) after the dog she has
2) after the cat she has
3) after the town she lives in
4) daddy's grandma0 -
Must also add... Both dads are called Grandad...again no confusion.:staradminTrying to save money to give our family a better future:staradmin:staradminDD#27/10/07, DD#2 13/02/12 :staradmin0

Good grief, the OP has now deleted every post - surely if she felt she was right then she should have the courage to leave her comments to allow a balance of views?:hello:0

I deleted the posts last night.......................
my reason, certain pieces were quoted and replied to, in a pm to me
which was not a nice pm, and a few seconds later another one came, i don't object to anyones opinion, as we are all entitled to one.
But i do object to my posts being quoted and sent in nasty pm's, to the peson who did send them, i have complained and reported them.
thanks everyone bar 1 on this thread.0 -
I can't imagine why anyone would find anything you said reason to be unpleasant. I'm sorry that happened to you.
I hope you're feeling more positive about it all now.
Good luck.Just because it says so in the Mail, doesn't make it true.
I've got ADHD. You can ask me about it but I may not remember to answer...0 -
Sorry to hear you got sent a nasty PM, that is really unecessary. I have still managed to get the gist of the thread. When I was little I had a nanny lara, a nanny rebecca and my great nanny deb. It caused me no confusion at all.Grammar: The difference between knowing your !!!!!! and knowing you're !!!!!! :cool:0

Oh that's just ridiculous! Glad you reported whoever though, I can't believe they would PM you having a dig when they could have said whatever on the thread!
Hope you don't feel as lousy about it all today Chrisx

i think im going to be the only one here that things its a bit confusing .
i hated growing up having to explain which gran i was talking about .
so my children have , nana - gran - granny - and grandma one word that decribes each person , no having to add anything else. it was also myself that decided what each person was called .
people may find that odd , but hay ho x0 -
I've enjoyed reading about what other people's families call grandparents etc.
So sorry to hear the OP had nasty PMs - totally unnecessary.
I was very lucky to grow up with 2 sets of grandparents (2 x nannas and 2 x grandads) and one great grandmother until I was about 8 (Grandma).
My grandparents lived in the same road - and each referred to the other as 'other nanna' - when I was very little they would each stand at their garden gate and I would trot along the road (all independant-like) to 'other nanna' once I'd exhausted the first nannaLike a nanna relay!!!
My dad expected to be called Grandad but my eldest child babbled 'dumpa' or something similar and he has since been known as Grandpa (my family consider that to be a bit posh!!).
As my children grew they differentiated between grandparents and great grandparents in their own way (but there is only one Grandpa). Imagine my horror when, at a gathering of all the family my small daughter was explaining something she had done with a nanna - someone asked which nanna - to which she replied, "you know, the nanna with the grandad we don't like" (To be fair she did have a point!!!)
Once the older two nannas got very old they lived together and my children differentiated between them according to their armchairs - nanna by the telly and nanna by the table!! They even signed birthday cards using that description
I am now remarried and have a 20 month old little cheeky chap - we asked my new m-i-l what she would like to be called - she had already decided on Grandma - I was surprised at first because in my family that title indicated a great grandparent - but my husband and his brother grew up calling their grandmother Grandma. In fact, with the slight regional accent it actually sounds more like "Gramma" which our little chap can already say - and he knows exactly who he means!! And he calls his great, great grandmother - Nanna - just like she has been for the last 46 years - but it doesn't matter what she's called to my little chap - that special connection between the very old and very young shines between them when they are together - if only I could bottle that - so special
Interesting the way families have their own conventions0
